We have a princess cake for my niece.. the skirts are wide and tall and we don't have a container to store in the fridge. Any tips like I don't pencil or something you have used before to store it properly?

After putting all the effort in it would be a shame for it to get damaged. I'd really be looking to rush to the shops and get a decent box rather than improvise then store it sowhere cool as the fridge can make icing sweat.
You’ve got to have the right tools. You can't just shove a cake that rivals the height of Mt. Everest into any old container. You need a cake carrier or a large, airtight container designed specifically for tall cakes. I once tried to store a four-tier cake in a regular fridge shelf – ended up with a delicious, albeit unintentional, cake pancake.
A tall cake’s like a Jenga tower – it’s only as strong as its weakest block. Make sure you’ve used proper dowels or straws for support if it’s a multi-tier cake. This keeps it standing tall and proud, instead of collapsing into a sugary heap. Once, I used spaghetti sticks in a pinch – not my finest moment, but it held up... mostly.
That’s nice, but I don’t think you eat the plastic little thing you put on it. that’s too feminine for me to eat a cake like that
Ah, the quest for storing a majestic princess cake, what a noble endeavor! I remember facing a similar culinary conundrum. Here’s a hack that saved the day: Take a few skewers or toothpicks and gently place them around the top and sides of the cake. This acts as a little protective scaffolding. Then, carefully drape plastic wrap around the cake, ensuring it doesn't touch the frosting or decorations - the skewers will help with that. If the cake is super tall and you’re worried about it toppling over, try clearing a space in the fridge and gently placing it on a flat surface. If it’s still a tight fit, find a large box (even a clean cardboard one) that’s taller than the cake and open at the front. Place the cake inside, and carefully set it in the fridge. This improvised "cake condo" should help protect your niece's regal dessert from fridge odors and accidental bumps. 🍰👑

A cool trick I learned from a seasoned baker involves using a piece of parchment paper. Place it between the cake and the container lid to avoid the dreaded frosting-stick-to-lid situation. You want your guests to marvel at your perfectly iced cake, not the frosting stuck to the top of the container.
So pretty. Put it in a box so it doesn’t collect moisture
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just store it in a package and put it in fridge.
Yank the shelf out above the crisper
Wonderful Cake!
