Why is the owner keeping the bar manager when place empty every night?

like what is going on here? such a weird and truly bizarre situation. i've been to a lot of bars but honestly cannot recall anything like this before.

somehow during covid the long time manager left and she was made manager , place had low expectations during covid so maybe she got a free pass and 2022 was actually fairly normal and busy. but things have gone south since 2023 and bar has had a lot of half empty if not empty nights since

she has a diploma in advertising yet cannot come up with an advertising campaign on social media that brings people into the bar at night. all she does is post food posts like every day.

on the labour day long weekend she didn't even book any live music or post anything online saying bar was even open. and then when place empty Saturday night she stands around acting surprised no one came out.

i'm not sure what went on Sunday or Monday nights but i've checked google live Tuesday and Wednesday nights and both times its saying place is like empty entirely empty. " Live: Less busy than usual " is what it is saying so entirely empty

i know of another place that does a wing night on Wednesday and is packed when you drive by but this place has nothing and empty how is owner not going broke? he is paying to keep the lights on some nights. there isn't even any customers

i checked google liv again just to make sure my data was accurate and yes its still empty so its been empty from 8 30 till 9 30 on a Wednesday night. i talked to one of the long time servers who worked there and she told me there had been a lot of nights like this with no customers and just empty

i checked at 10 30 and its still saying Live: Not busy , so its been dead empty from 8 30 till 10 30 and according to google is still open till 12 pm but have to wonder why on such a dead night with almost no business at all? like wow no business from 8 pm till close? and owner is ok with this and doesn't see a reason for major changes?

no is no " relation " between owner and this manager , he is also not romantically interested in her or like dating her as she is a married lesbian. so we can rule that out , she seemed to get the job cause she was friends with the " former manager " and she wanted out of job so recommended her for the job

according to google live it has some customers ( more than last night when it empty but not busy ) , it seems to get more of a day crowd now

for some reason the bar nights have really been struggling there lately , 2023 had some really odd and bad nights then 2024 more of the same , could see this fall being even worse though as people here seem to be getting sick of her and sick of place in general , not really any reason to go there

note its currently almost 4 pm here and a nice sunny day so is currently some people there but not as busy as actual summer , restaurants here always quiet down a bit after labour day

but still surprised place would be absolutely empty like not 1 single customer on a Tuesday or Wednesday night , hard to believe there'd be no one there. like not even hard core regulars or out of town construction workers or players from sports teams after games.

i personally wonder if they'll even make it through the winter. on the news today it says the unemployement rate is up here so people will have less money to spend.

but there bar nights just don't seem to be trendy enough anymore to bring out the crowds like they used to. sometimes bars are just over and it seems like this one didn't get the message that there time was up.

last winter owner paying to keep the lights on , you'd drive by and it be empty but he's still have it lighted up fully. this wacko manager going to drive him broke and he doesn't seem to even care or too drunk to notice

i wonder what there strategy to make it through the winter will be , its very quiet here and other than Christmas break isn't really a lot of business to be had. if its empty in September will surely be empty many nights this winter too

seriously? but is no evidence people are even coming in at all on certain nights , google liv data indicates Tuesday and Wednesday nights virtually empty from start to finish.

it must of been so weird to be the bartender those nights , waiting in an empty bar for customers that aren't even coming in those nights and what happens if you do get one and its some weirdo who expects you to talk to him and give special attention cause place empty.

another place here does a wing night on Wednesday and is packed when you drive by , so not like there isn't business to be had on weeknights.

this place seems to have given up and content with place being empty on these nights in hopes there busier on weekend i guess. going to check google again tonight to see if Thursday any better but a local brewery does a trivia night and i don't anyone goes there till after

i'm not saying there needs to be live music every night , i get that in a smaller market that isn't possible or affordable. but last year they didn't even have live music on weekends during the fall and winter on nights you think it might of helped bring people in

other places are doing other things than music to bring people in , as mentioned one place does a wing night and the brewery does a trivia night

i've talked to some of the servers there and they agreed with me that there should be some things going on there to bring people in during slower time of year but manager and owner seem to think otherwise

the guy is paying to keep the lights on most nights well allowing this wacko manager to drive the place into the ground to the point its virtually empty some nights now with no business at all

it was virtually empty Tuesday and Wednesday , interesting to see what Thursday brings , fortuently i'm going out of town Friday so won't be there and won't know how empty it was that night

update for Thursday night seemed to be more people there during day and into diner but weather really nice today so that might of brought them out more.

but night crowd doesn't seem to be materialising much , is more people than other nights but still saying not too busy , so is some customers present but not like packed by any means

it seems on Thursday they sit back and wait for people to leave the trivia night at brewery and hope they come in after. but kind of a lame strategy for a business to sit back and hope people come in after they've already spent money at other place and already got drunk there first. seems lame that its all they could come up with when there a more dominate bar than brewery is

further update checked it again at 10 10 pm and its back down to the tiny little bar so almost no one still there so yeah doesn't appear its very busy at all and its bar nights are really struggling to get people out after 9 or 10 pm , perhaps some of the trivia crowd came in for a drink but didn't stay very long and went home

but as its a smaller city (20,000 ) i suppose not a lot of people go out on a Thursday in September unlike some college towns

went out of town so not sure if it was busy Friday but doubt it as they didn't even have any live music or anything

happened to be on google so checked to see if it was busy Saturday night , its 8 40 pm so you think there would be some people at a pub downtown but nope

according to google live, so that like everyday this week its been empty pretty much at night , its like the nightlife just died at this place

as said time for a new manager and new direction cause there ain't anybody coming out as things stand and going to be a long winter of nothing by the looks of things

google live says there is nobody there , other than maybe a few people , but pretty much empty for a Saturday night

actually starting to feel bad for this place , checked google live the last couple nights and its dead every night as i said. LIVE Not busy , tonight smallest bar possible like no one there at all and its 10 30 on a Wednesday , perhaps people don't go out much in my city on that day but still like no one at all and there rate downtown?

i feel bad for the staff cause this is like brutal , it seems they've already started cutting back. had been hostess's last fall but there not working anymore other than maybe some weekends if weather nice and it busy but last year they were there every day after 4 pm

someone also left a resume and they said there not hiring and told her to apply at a sports bar down the road that i also doubt very much is hiring

gonna be a long brutal few months ahead , be interesting to see if its even busy this Friday or not , weather suppose to be really nice but that may not matter much for bar crowd after dark
