Some people grew up in fast-food households where no one cooked, and they had no example of people eating well and focusing on fresh, good meals. In addition, fast-food is EASY and QUICK to obtain. No mess in the kitchen. Nothing to clean up.
However, it is not easy on the budget. But people who only eat fast food must not care about budgets. There's that. People with a lot of disposable income eat out more, in general.
On the other hand, these same folk haven't LEARNED that they could make a similar meal at home for half the cost, half the calories and better for their overall health.
Sure, it takes some time with meal prep. But if YOU make the meal, buy fresh ingredients and season it to your tastes, it will always be better than a generic fast meal. But if someone has never done this, there is no way to know.
If it's a friend, open their eyes. Not much you can do about anyone outside your circle.
Because it’s fast and convenient, my question to you is what is actually good for us? People die off of different foods all the time so to say something is good or bad for us , doesn’t really mean shit , I know people that ate salads all the time and they still dropped dead , I know people that exercised daily and still dropped dead at a young age , so food is food , we all need food to survive so just live your life and enjoy the different foods that is offered to us. I prefer home cooked meals as well , but at times I will indulge in fast food or restaurant foods if I don’t feel like cooking , My advice bro is stop feeding your brain off of everything you see and read about on social media , most of it is money making bullshit , we are all going to die of something , so just enjoy life best you can , We have variety of things to eat, if you are worried about weight? Cut down your portions and exercise. Cuz if you think about it , everything is bad for us one way or another. People die off of drinking water , so I don’t fall for all that horseshit that all these companies and doctors are trying to make us believe in , to make money off of us for , For years eggs were considered bad for us because of the cholesterol in eggs , and then magically they aren’t bad for us? It’s nothing but gimmicks to make money. I’m sorry my ass craves a Whopper at times and some Taco Bell amongst other foods as well lol
Not everyone is in a situation where they can cook for themselves whenever they want to. I know several people who are renting rooms in someone else's house, and even though they are given a small amount of space to store food (both in the refrigerator and in the cupboards), they still have to work around the home-owner's use of the kitchen, which can be very difficult. For example, I know one of them is gone from the house 13 hours on any work-day, meaning she wakes up and gets ready for an hour, leaves for work, comes home, and has 2 hours before she goes to sleep. If the homeowner has just started cooking a meal, the kitchen may be occupied for the next 90 minutes or more, which doesn't give her enough time to cook.
Other people, like me, are "on the road" most days, making stops at multiple customers' homes. While I can pack a lunch during the winter, three seasons a year, it's too hot in the vehicle to keep food, and there's no practical way to keep it cool, and no way to warm anything up.
Until you've walked in other people's shoes, you shouldn't make assumptions about their choices. Could people try harder? In some cases, sure - but ultimately, there are going to be limits to what can be done.
There's also a difference between eating a grilled chicken sandwich and a bacon ultimate cheeseburger. Not all fast food is completely terrible.
It's just like how people eat sugar and high sodium foods. There's many things you can eat that are bad for you that isn't fast food. Candy, desserts, etc. all of that isn't fast food. But to answer it more properly, some people just don't have time to cook. Or they like to indulge in it once in a while.
Fast food often offers convenience, affordability, and a comforting familiarity in taste. Many people lead busy lives, and the quick service and low cost of fast food can be appealing. During one of my culinary adventures in the United States, I discovered how fast food chains have become cultural icons, often providing unique regional spins on classic items, which can make the experience fun and nostalgic. Sometimes, life's pace simply demands a fast solution. 🍔

Life isn't only about living perfectly. Doing something you enjoy isn't "bad for you.". That's an individual choice.
Who is to say what is good for you and bad for you? The answer is each individual makes that decision for themselves. THEY decide what is good and bad for them based on criteria that they choose not someone else.
You may value eating certain foods that you consider to be "healthy," but someone else may value eating foods that THEY find gives them psychic satisfaction.
Living in a laboratory of perfection isn't some peoples' idea of a well-lived life either. They may choose to sacrifice a week's longevity in return for the psychic satisfaction they receive from a fast food hamburger. That's their decision to make and shouldn't be criticized any more than your choice.
When it comes to the personal choice of what to eat, there is no right and wrong. There is only each individuals decision about what they value most when it comes to personal satisfaction.
Did I mention that that picture looks FREAKING DELICIOUS?
@RingOfFire the picture is healthy as fuck. If only the soybean oil was replaced by something like avocado oil, which is not at all difficult to do. And everything was pesticide free, which again is not difficult to do unless you live in some overpopulated 100 story building, which then should consider dedicating a story to growing fresh food.
@The_Confusion
Not sure how much of your comment is serious and how much is satire. But I'll assume it's serious.
Replacing soybean with avocado oil, and using organic foods that are *pesticide free,* increases the cost of the food. It's already $15 here for a fast food meal at a place like McDonald's for example because of the out of control inflation in the last few years.
Adding even more to that cost would make the fast food out of reach for most of the people who want it.
So I don't think it's quite as easy as you suggest.
Many people want to be able to get fast food at a low price. That's what they choose. I'm fine if someone wants to open up a fast food restaurant that uses avocado oil and organic ingredients. I'm sure there are some people, maybe you included, who would be willing to pay the extra cost for those things. That's fine.
But there are millions of people who are not and would be satisfied with fast food just the way it is at a lower price. That should be their choice to make not someone else's and not the government's. They should be able to make that choice and buy that food if they want to.
Do you have a diet that is guaranteed to make people live forever? GUARANTEED to make them live even one year longer? And will that diet bring them as much satisfaction as they get from their current lifestyle?
The answers to these questions are obvious. YOU may choose to eat a different diet with the hope that you will live a healthier and longer life, but other people have the right to choose a lifestyle that is perhaps less healthy but more satisfying for them. This represents having different priorities when making our choices and you cannot honestly say that you are right and they are wrong; you can only say that you disagree with their priorities.
Fries are actually healthier than fruit juice.
Potatoes are almost nutritionally complete and juice is basically just sugar and water and a few vitamins. Also eating a lot of sugar without vitamin D (from fats) and fiber will cause type 2 diabetes.
If you had water, an apple, cheese, and a potato, its basically everything you need in one meal.
Lack of self control with portioning and knowledge of nutrition is the only reason most people get sick eating anything.
If something is a very high density in nutrients, you need less of it per meal than a low nutrient density food.
Lettuce is nutritionally very poor, its hard for humans to digest because we lack the extra stomachs animals require to break down cellulose and extract nutrients from it.
And how much or how often anyone needs to eat is metabolism based.
Ultra processed foods are highly addictive. Plus, the fast food restaurants are extremely convenient, they give a reliable product experience and they're often inexpensive, as compared to cost and time investment of making better choices.
Today I spent $115 on chicken and brisket, however much on smoker pellets and electricity, and then 8 hours of my time to prepare a fantastic dinner to serve 18 guys with lots of leftovers. My dollar cost might only work out to be like $3/meal, but that time investment comes at a premium. Thankfully, meat smoking isn't a very demanding task and you can do other stuff while that's happening, but 8 hours is a lot more time than most people have on a Sunday. And, most people don't even have the smoker necessary to make the meat!
So is booze, drugs, and unprotected sex. Also running stop signs and doing dangerous Tik Tok challenges. We are all going to die, it is just when and by what.
Honestly everything you mentioned sounds gross to me, grilled chicken is often dry and then salad is often quite flavourless. Every time I've eaten what you've eaten I sit there trying to gag my way through the dinner simply cause it's healthy. I'd rather not overeat or exercise more then eat healthy
It's absolutely loaded with quick-energy carbohydrates, long-burning fats and proteins, and salt to replace what you lose through sweating. It's the exact opposite of "bad for you".
Go and talk to someone who's actually WORKED for a living. They'll just laugh in your face.
You only live once. Fast food/eating out is deemed convenient. Instead of cooking and cleaning up after, you just order in or go pick something up and let someone clean up after you instead.
No, fast food isn't exactly "good" for you, but neither is some of the stuff you can make at home. Some people don't actually "cook", they just make microwave foods which are also not the best for you.
Why are you so concerned about what other people do/eat?
I believe it's cost and the time. With the price of meat and groceries skyrocketing in some areas, just going out and buying the fast food is a lot well cheaper if you think about it. As for the time, people have really busy schedules, with school, work, and extracurricular activities time is the issue. Now I know people are saying, "well you can meal prep" yeah but life happens#1 and #2 that can still be considered time consuming.
There's nothing wrong with eating a hamburger every now and then. It's not too much different from having spaghetti bolognese topped with parmigiano reggiano with a side of garlic bread. You're still having ground beef served with a load of starchy carbs. You just can't eat those sorts of meals every single day. Everything in moderation.
Additionally not all fast food are hamburgers. There are places that sell stir fry like Chinese take out spots that serve food in 5-10 minutes, greek reasturants that pack up a gyro and a greek side salad in a couple minutes, there are fast food places that make fresh tacos and burritos, places that make bbq chicken served with collard greens and baked beans with texas toast, fast food places that serve a quarter chicken with black beans and rice with a couple plantains, and yes even places that serve grilled chicken sandwiches with beans and rice. Not every fast food place is highly processed food like McDonald's.
For example this is fast food. You can walk in the door and order, pick up your Styrofoam take out container in 5 minutes or so.

Sometimes eating healthy is a privilege. Healthier options tend to be more expensive. Not everyone can afford to eat organically every meal.
and not everyone has the time or energy to make home cooked meals everyday. There are days where i work all day and I just want to eat something quick and go home.
and as long as you eat it in moderation, it’s not gonna kill you
I drink McDonald's coffee every morning ☕ I only eat their food when I'm hungover which isn't very often.
Nothing beats homemade meals but sometimes I'm just lazy. 😂
They have grown up with this stuff. It is convenient and tastes good and not too expensive. You can get it at a drive through so you don't even have to get out of your car.
@exitseven Not too expensive? When was the last time you went to McDonalds? I've spent $30 on just a few items. You could buy a large pizza for less than that.
Convenience. I personally cook more often than getting fast food. But my roommate eats fast food daily. She doesn’t eat during the day and ends up binging at night. If I’m eating out it’s usually at an actual restaurant as opposed to fast food
Overeating is worse than any bad food choice. I stay in shape because I don't eat too much, even though I have fast food a few times a week.
It's fast and can be tasty I don't really care if I d*e either, since I'm not someone who wants to live past my 50's..
People do countless things while knowing it's bad for them. Hence the obesity epidemic and tragically unattractive dating pool for men in America. Fast food is only a small piece of the problem (and not even an essential one) .
You have plenty of skinny pretty woman in the dating pool. They just tend to be hoes lol. There also is more fat and unattractive men in woman's dating pool if we go by what I seen on dating apps and at least fat woman try to look nice. Fat men don't even try they just look like beasts in a basement in their pics lol. That is why I got off that crap there are more better men in the world not on apps.
@PeachyPie93 Skinny pretty woman are rare in the dating pool, just going by the numbers
Those who are thin know they're hot shit even though they're just average by a different country's standards
@PeachyPie93 If what you say about men is true, then those men are really disgusting! Few of them have a good excuse for being that way, so I hope they lose weight and get their act together like real men should.
Then again, I think women today can get a guy no matter how many bad things they do to themselves.
@morganherrel Settle down, you act like just being a woman you can get any guy.. if you want a cute guy with a decent personality you can't just be any woman looking any way. You can get basically any guy to sleep with you but you can't get them to date you unless they like everything about you or you look super hot. Guys are genuinely pretty picky which is why I wish guys would make more moves in person. Since I see guys looking or sometimes staring at me but I can't tell if they like me or why they are staring at me.. lol
@PeachyPie93 A cute partner with a decent personality is being extremely picky... only elite men have a chance at this in America. I hope to be one of them, but I recognize the difficulty!
For girls, it's not so hard. There is plenty of evidence to show this. You absolutely do not have to be hot to find a cute guy with a decent personality.
You do know there are more woman in the world than men, right? That is why hoes are willing to steal a man so often lol
@PeachyPie93 I mean... 70-80% of American women are objectively not cute by the most basic minimum standard. If you're any pickier than that, like demanding she have a pretty face etc, then you're acting like a prince. Add personality and intelligence as criteria? Yeah forget it. It's not worth thinking about for the vast majority of men.
Many reasons. Some people dont care that its unhealthy, the same way people smoke and dgaf. Fast food is much more cheap and accessible than fresh, healthy home cooked food, and not everyone knows how to cook or has the time to learn
Too much water is bad for you too, as is too much exercise.
There are lots of things that are bad for you if you abuse them.
Because it’s quick and easy, the human brain greatly favors convenience.
It’s a convenience factor overriding any desire to make their bodies a temple.
They must be putting some type of drug in the food.
This is actually a great example of how it is very expensive to be poor in USA America. Time & money only allow for cheap processed food.
Lots of wholesome eating and exercising people die early. Famous ones too. You take your chances either way.
Because I'm 30 - I've only slowly slowly started gaining weight :P
Everything is bad for you nowadays what are we supposed to do? Eat a salad every day for the rest of our life
Yes, I imagine most people do. Fast food is heavily marketed and created to be hyper palatable and convenient.
I will never stop liking McDonald’s. Is the Big Mac worth the hype? I’ve never had one
Well, start a petition to shut down fast food chain restaurants.
Because it's fast, smart guy. We live in the age of convenience
Cost, convenience, and the addictive additives.
Addiction is strong. And people don't really care about health as much has think we do
it tastes good and is cheap, and many people dont care about their health
Because it tastes good, it's cheap and it's convenient.
Because no interesting story begins with a salad.😆
It’s called freedom asshole. Are you equally against alcohol and cigarettes being sold?
They now it's bad for themseves but still keep eating because taste is so good
I love burgers made from butchers they barbecue it outside
Because... It's fast...
Because it is yummy, silly.
Because it's fast as fuck boyy
It's Fast. It's Food.
Yeppers, they know it's bad but convenient
It’s tasty stuff
Cause it’s drug possibly they are depressed.
Tastes good
They know.
