Do you know how to cook and bake, etc? Who taught you?

Yes. I learned from my mother. I started making simple things, like breakfasts, when I was about 8. I was baking cakes and cookies and Pillsbury rolls when I was 10, and full dinner meals by about 12. When I moved out at 19, my mother made me a cookbook of all of her main recipes. And for the last 25 years, if I've need to learn how to cook or bake something, YouTube has been my teacher.
I cook all the time, and I do a lot of grilling, and still do some baking. I can make about 30 different dinner meals, about 8-10 different breakfast variations, and I can bake more than a dozen different things - but I could probably learn from YouTube how to make just about anything.
Started cooking around age 7ish. Nobody really taught me. I taught myself. At first it was just simple stuff like breakfast. Then it was baking and being asked to bake for large gatherings like 300+ people. At this point I can make pretty much anything, given a recipe or I can wing it and usually make something tasty if I wanted. I don't cook often these days tho. Wife usually does.
cook yeah but bake not really
i mean was doing basic shit by 7? like toast or canned good. same for like butter tortilla/bread or ramen. easy stuff
however i learned ACTUAL cooking when i was like 11 or 12 bc i had to watch my siblings. it was just basic shit like spaghetti, mac'n cheese, tacos, rice, and eggs.
oh, the last thing i made was lemon peppered chicken and baked potatoes.
Although I pride myself in being an extremely competent cook/baker... All thanks to both my Mother and Grandmother... My husband by far surpasses me with his adventurous and creative culinary kitchen skills.
Gosh... Thank you so very much indeed @IknowthatIdontKnow09 for the MHO.
Cooking and baking have been passions of mine for quite some time. I started learning from my grandmother, who was an exceptional cook, when I was around ten. Her kitchen was a wonderland, full of aromatic spices and fresh ingredients. The last thing I prepared was a classic Margherita pizza with a twist—truffle oil drizzled over fresh buffalo mozzarella and basil. The combination of aroma and taste was simply delightful! 🍕

I love to cook. I started with baking chocolate chip cookies unded my mom's supervision and cakes from scratch at around 8 years of age. By 12 I was baking fresh batches of homemade bread from scratch but as I got older I hot more into cooking and grilling. I eventually honed my skills at culinary school and I love making Italian, Asian and Classic French dishes. I now make my own fresh sausages and dry cured salami, I cure and smoke my own bacon and hams. Now that winter is arriving I always enjoy rich beef, barley and root vegetable soup with great umami flavor.
I know how to cook, yes... and grill too
bake, I do know about some very basic things, but I've never really done it enough for me to say that I do know how to bake, no...
which is probably a very good thing, otherwise I would bake way too much, till I indeed explode... lol
I made 1990 Easter dinner after my father's passing and with my mother's illness. It was successful because nobody got sick. I'm not a good cook, though my maternal grandfather, William Turner the Elder and BFF Jamie Logsdon could have been chefs.
My mum taught me well before I went to uni, so I could fend for myself and not rely on others. Same happened to my brother. We are both pretty good at cooking, and enjoy experimenting.
Cook- yes, I learnt by watching people and through the internet
bake- no, I don't know anything about baking.
I learned from a long line of Italians lol. My grandparents, my dad, my mom taught me some too but she's not Italian.
The Boy Scouts, if you can cook in on an open fire, you can cook anywhere.
I have been cooking since the age of 8.
Yup! My mom taught me a lot. I also self trained.
I cannot cook and everything I have ever tried to cook was a disaster. Nobody ever taught me anything about cooking sadly.
