We've had a lot of fun with our sausages this week, dipping them, hiding them, giving them a good battering. We've tackled long ones and short ones and ones that aren't straight.
But now it's Friday and time for the last sausage of the party, meat free sausages. Here in Wales, one of our national recipes is the Glamorgan sausage. It's not a proper sausage. It's made mixing grated cheese with breadcrumbs, leeks, and herbs, binding with egg, then coated in more bread crumbs and fried. It's a good way to use up stale bread and cheese.
But how do you feel about meat free sausages of any kind? Are vegetables ones acceptable or a big no way?
Considering how veggie dogs and soy dogs exist, that alone answers the question that yes, they are very much acceptable, and a thing that most people enjoy.
Plus in other parts of the world too like Muslim countries where pork is obviously not sold, you can easily find hot dogs/sausages made from smoked veal and/or chicken as well, so there's that; skinless or otherwise, so if anyone tells you that sausages are only meat and/or pork, they're just plain stupid and living in their own small world
I have enjoys eating blueberry breakfast sausage, chicken sausage, pork sausage, beef sausage, I even bought goat to make homemade goat sausage. Turkey sausage is not my favourite as the flavour is kind blah. and as well as many plant based sausage. I find meat free sausages to actually be quite good. However, I am learning to watch for store bought ones which contain quite a bit of soy, and corn which is not best for my digestive system. Other than that I have enjoys quite a load of vegetable Sausages. I find them to be tasty, and delicious.
I think they are. I mean, it's better than any of the processed ones we see around (even though those are also yummy too) but you're also not wasting any food and using them to create something new.
Personally I see no point. Eat veggies a better way, stop pretending they are 'just like meat'. But even more than that I have an issue with people calling vegan substitutes for milk milk. Call it soy/rice/oat/almond water but milk is already a thing.

They are usually stuffed with tofu and rosemary. Both are useful ways to off me. Don't share that around. I would rather not be part of the chain of growing animals for food.. when allergic to tofu your body gives you little choice. I did try.
Absolutely. Why is there a "need" to punish a pig, cow, turkey, chicken, dog, cat, rat, mouse, goose, horse, emu, guinea pig, deer, lamb, calf, frog, snail, tortoise, dolphin, fish, whale, shark, snake, etc. just to make an edible sack of nutrients that can be produced, flavoured, cooked and prepared from healthy nutritious (or not) food where just as easily without the waste of animals lives?
Eat fruit then or nuts, perhaps the idea of uncooked flesh would be more to the natural way of consuming not to mention more dangerous. Yet fruits nuts, pulses can be consumed from the plant. FLAVOUR can be created with the use of spices and herbs all from their natural state.

@Sevenpointfive the whole animal ag industry has been built around mutating nature into products that produce most profit. Selective breeding of chickens for example produce animals that can't hold up their own weight with their legs. Mutating natural animals into ridiculous caricatures of the natural being. Plants too with GMOs though that's more about creating particular PRODUCTS and profit than better food.
@Shiprex i know. it's heartbreaking. i wish we could all be vegans. i have no problem with it. fake meat tastes better when you know you're not eating a corpse
@Sevenpointfive Fake meats have in the past been horrific flavoured but these days I find the development to be far closer and better tase and consumption sensation than when I consumed animal flesh. A lighter less overwhelming fattiness I have found but there are now so many alternatives that it's hard to tell which are good and which aren't
@Sevenpointfive I'm the same and don't really care about what I eat as long as it's not too strong flavoured as a substitute then I add my own things like spices and sauces as that's the flavour I am asking. It reminds me of one time on exercise we used cardboard in a beans and something else "stew" and cut it up, cooked it and ate it. Couldn't tell the difference
@Sevenpointfive It does and when there's enough that everyone can be sustained then we can look at the morality of HOW we go about obtaining enough for healthy existence
@Shiprex there is enough. and those cows can still provide milk. those chickens can lay eggs. you don't have to kill something to provide a meal that's going to keep you alive for 12 more hours. it's horrible. nothing needs to die for our consumption.
@Sevenpointfive There's too many that's the point. The consumption of cows milk is perhaps a reason for the obesity epidemic in the countries where it is most consumed and when you think about it, the purpose of calfs milk is to turn a 40kg mammal into a 600kg mammal in the space of a few years. Also the myth about calcium for your bones has been debunked because extraction of calcium from it actually removes move calcium and other nutrients from the body which is linked to the high rates of osteoporosis in the same countries where calfs milk is consumed. Eggs too require millions of chickens and they need to be fed, housed, medicated because the current battery farms stress these creatures tf. It's also an environmental catastrophe.
@Shiprex sometimes i think my psyche is immune to seeing things. it's not when it involves animals. and i will never forget watching the male hatchlings being grated into nothing on a conveyer belt. they gave it a name which i don't remember. it scarred me
@Sevenpointfive the term you seek is macerated. I think I may have seen the same clip and it's stuck with me forever. That and another one where a cat has been boiled and skinned alive. Far worse than any of the clips of people being shot, killed and blown up in war.
@Shiprex yes they were macerated but the machine had a name like a carnival ride. it was sick. i'm about done with these humans. they do not care unless it's in their face and they have to do it. being two steps removed doesn't make you innocent.
@Sevenpointfive I hear you. I've been vegan for 14 years and still get haunted by the chicks being dumped onto the conveyor alive then seeing them drop into that machine. Then there's the way they dispose of dolphins and porpoises as well as the billions of fish, sharks and other sea life no one sees get destroyed because humans aren't very kind to the other inhabitants of the planet.
@Shiprex not to mention the waste of food we create from animals that never had to die. slaughterhouses and the people that they employ are psychopaths and these animals aren't even killed humanely. it hurts my heart. i wish more people would get eaten. the ones responsible for the butchering
@Sevenpointfive Soylent Green makes a nutrient rich story and movie of the idea that at a particular age of ripening humanity should self sacrifice for the benefit of the youth. I think it was 33 or 35 years of age.
@Shiprex i love that idea and it's a good movie by itself and for its time. that would be a good movie remake if they didn't use half of 'the island's' ideas.
@Sevenpointfive I think the original movie was long before the Island. This was a 1970s movie based on a 1960s book called Make room Make room and was quite creepy once the story came to life (THE opposite in fact was the truth)
What a disappointing way to end the sausage discussion. We should have started with meat free and worked out way up to hiding and dipping our crooked meat. Maybe women watch too many cooking shows and their brains are fried.
@exitseven it’s a great view of the palm trees and close by the lake but it’s a horrible diet plan the worst food ever if you would like to see the view of the palm trees let me know
@Iron_Man I had to spend almost a month in the hospital and I think that there was only one day that I could not eat the food. Sometimes my father would bring me a sub. One time he brought in a pound of cherries. I ate the whole bag and my pee bag turned red. They had to figure out if I was bleeding.
@exitseven i’m being transferred now as I speak they’re coming to get me to take me to a pl rehabilitation center so I’ll get a lot of work in I am staying there for a month
I love meat, but I also like many vegan foods as well! If it tastes good, it is good. Soy and beans get a bad name, but soy isn't some new genetically modified item. Tofu has been around for thousands of years!
nothing "non meat" that is pretending to be meat is acceptable. if you wanna eat vegetables, eat vegetables. don't act as if they were meat. nothing wrong with vegetables.

Except that we're not just nature, physiology based, we're heavily culture based as well, with it comes moral choices. Moral choices or moral obligations, some religions for example impose a vegetarian diet as a rule to follow.
