I love grits, been eating them my whole life. Seeing these comments in here from people not of the South reminds me of that line from "My Cousin Vinnie" when Joe Peshi is in the South and the cook offers grits and Peshi Says "What the hell is a grit?"... lol

The first time I tasted grits I was in Knoxville Tennessee at the Cracker Barrel restaurant and they automatically serve grits when you order breakfast. Being from the West Coast (the best coast) I thought the bowl had Cream of Wheat not grits 🤮

You're damned right I love grits, especially when cooked with half and half, then cheddar cheese and garlic added. But I follow a low carb diet and I only get grits once or twice per year when I choose a day to go off diet.

I never did until I got older and went out to fancy restaurant and had Shrimp and Grits. Now I like them, although my friends down south tell me I'm not eating real grits. Whatever! 🙃

Grits with melted cheese mixed with them/ cheese grits. Grits with gravy. Grits mixed with diced tomatoes. Grits with fried fish. Grits with tomato gravy. Grits with Red-Eye gravy. Just grits with butter, salt and pepper. Bacon or sausage grease also makes the grits taste better.
