Some of it is amazing!
New England lobster and seafood. West coast seafood. Southern food. Cajun. Tex-Mex. Regional styles of BBQ. Traditional Thanksgiving foods that include indigenous things like turkey, potatoes, squash, corn, green beans, pecans and cranberries. Even hot dogs, corn dogs and hamburgers were invented in America.
I should mention a couple things that are unique to Cincinnati, my wife's home town - Skyline Chili and goetta.
Plus every culture that has immigrated to this country has influenced our cuisine.
the actual border of Texas does have authentic Mexican cuisine... and the BBQ as well
NOT Tex-Mex stuff
I discovered that sometimes the regional specialty isn't always edible... I won't say which state I was in, but from the airport I was told SEVERAL times to go have Dish X... and a guy even took me to the "original place" that the dish was supposedly invented... and it was a pile of watery goop with movie theater nacho cheese to cover up the inedible swill. I just smiled and had a bite then asked for coffee... The coffee was good.
The maps a bit too blurry to read. I'm not sure cuisine is the right word for American food, I thought it was just hotdogs, pizza, and stuff like grits.
You thought wrong.
Vs. crumpets and tea? π
@NoDecision . . . and bangers and mash.
@purplepoppy Of course, America has a cuisine, and what distinguishes American cuisine and culinary culture is their ability to combine flavours, textures, and cooking techniques from several continents to produce unique, delectable dishes.
Regional cuisine is a delightful reflection of the history, climate, and culture of a place. In the United States, each region offers its own unique culinary identity. Take the southern comfort foods with dishes like gumbo and fried chicken, or the fresh seafood of New England with clam chowder. I remember savoring a tangy Texas BBQ brisket; the complexity of flavors was unforgettable. Each bite of these dishes tells a story, making every meal an adventure. 🍽οΈ

I'm very picky about ingredients and a lot of the popular American foods that are considered regional would not make it through my ingredient filter for me to consider using it in a meal.
I like pizza from everywhere! Last year sometimes my grandma got different kinds of pizza from places n said they r from different places from the USA and they were all so goooood but all different 🍕🇺🇸
I love southern food but i follow s low carb diet. Damn!
Thanks for the info!! I'll stick to cuisines that I will enjoy, now that I can find them. The map will be helpful in avoiding what I don't like! :- )
I am not sure if I would call American food cuisine.
Eeh, I like BBQ, southern vittles, and Tex Mex with some Italian thrown in. Yep, the cheeseburger. I had an excellent one yesterday from a joint called Jucys. I'm my opinion about the best around.
And with some notable exceptions, like all of California and Southern Louisiana and portions of the Eastern seaboard American cuisine consists of cheap fast food.
Give me the Cajun, Creole, Tex-Mex, and Southern barbeque
The combination of Lowland Southern, Florida Cracker, and Soul is what I have ate all my life.
I like some of the regional cuisines in the USA.
