Have you botched a recipe when cooking something? What were you making and how did you mess it up?

At Christmas last year, I made shrimp with penne and alfredo sauce and gemelli (I posted this question). I did such a fantastic job that my mom tried it and decided to try making it herself, and HERS was great too! Welp, I tried it again a couple of weeks ago and I messed it up REALLY badly by misreading the recipe and adding three times as much butter as was called for. Yeah... that one didn't turn out so good...

Another time, many years ago, I made chocolate chip cookies and forgot to add brown sugar.

So how did YOU mess up a recipe?

Last year I made my girlfriend's birthday dinner, a simple shrimp and pasta dish. I followed the recipe perfectly, except I forgot to add the salt at the very end. I thought it was a secret trick to make the flavors pop, but the dish had a flat, dull taste and lacked vibrancy. She was polite, but I could tell she was disappointed. I'm still not sure if it was the lack of salt or just my bad cooking. I'm making it again next week.

Even the best and most experienced chefs if even the simplest of cooking tasks... I cook sunny side up fried eggs all the time probably have done it thousands of times but sometimes you just break the yolk, usually its only mine I stuff up but it happens sometimes when cooking for others also

I didn't but my sister did.
She made a quiche cheese pie back in the 80's when quiche was very popular.

My sister added sweetened condensed milk instead of canned evaporated milk.🙃
It was supposed to taste savory but tasted sweet instead.

She spent a lot of money and her time making it and it ended up in the trash can.

When I used to invent recipes I did. I stick to following recipes now rather than trying to create my own.

It was meant to be a vinaigrette for a mixed salad.

I always try the taste before my cooking ''goes public''. So I threw it away, and dinner was without salad.
