If You Were Invited To Someone’s House For Thanksgiving Instead Of Serving Turkey Or Ham What Would Make You Laugh If They Served Instead?

Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian-American tradition that takes place on Christmas Eve. In Italy, it's a fasting day called La Vigilia, a day for abstinence from meat... until Christmas Day, and then there is a big mid-day meal of pasta with meats.
In America, Italians brought this tradition to Little Italy in New York, sometime in the late 1800's. Why seven fishes? It may be from the Catholic Seven Sacraments or named from the Seven Hills of Rome. No one is quite sure.
There are some very traditional fishes that are served here in the U. S... eels, baccala (salt cod), calamari (squid), shrimp, mussels & clams and more.
From the 1800's, fast forward to 2022. Most families who celebrate this feast, will be doing so with seven of their family's favorite seafood recipes. A feast that is & that brings back memories & I also remember my aunt putting octopus it in.
Chili dogs!
That sounds delicious & fully loaded, life is good. I’m getting hungry again.
Yeah, I love a good loaded chili dog, but it would be a bit weird for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Thinking about it I can’t remember the last time I had a chili dog so that only means one thing. I’m going to have to make a stop for lunch one of these days.
A good chili dog is not easy to find. If you are anywhere near Tampa, I recommend Mel's Hot Dogs, close to Busch Gardens. Best hot dogs anywhere!
It’s been years since I have been to Tampa & Florida in general. Before covid I went there & I even went to Busch Gardens because I love roller coasters. I think of Mel’s I think of the television show Alice. I’ll make a note of Mel’s Chili Dogs. youtube.com/shorts/LOklDQHhd-o?si=pSkvYWQhPRLzUsWm
You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for MHO! Now, if only I can find a good chili dog. . .
There is a hotdog place about a half hour away from me that has been in business for 23 years & guess what they have chili dogs. In my travels I’m going to stop for lunch.
Bon appetit!
I guess if they did a weird food combination like chocolate and pumpkin sandwiches, or if they served celery on peanut butter with honey coated on top.
I met a Wall Street banker who ate his celery this way because that is how his Phd Medical doctor parents fed him when he was a child.
He was not my friend, he was my cousin's friend. And this was around 13 years ago.
As for a traditional Thanksgiving everyone became accustomed to the same old foods & people should be thankful for whatever food they have. As for chocolate & pumpkin sandwiches it’s an unusual combination however although I would laugh it’s probably actually tasty.
I'm sure this would prolly gimme a fit of the giggles. 🤣
Happy Thanksgiving To You & thanks for making me laugh as well. Roadkill soup. Would you eat it?
Hell yah, me an' my kin make it most ev'ry mornin'! And Happy Thanksgiving to u too! 🦃
Sales would be up if stores sold soup like that or with funny labels however I’m sure it would offend someone out that however those people can go pound sand.
And TY for the MHO! Soups ready! 🤣
You are welcome & I’ll let you enjoy the soup first & if you don’t blow up the toilet seat I’ll have a bowl of soup later.
Discovering a surprise like a sushi platter or bowls of ramen instead of the traditional Thanksgiving turkey or ham would certainly bring a chuckle and an adventurous delight to the occasion. The idea of savoring nigiri or slurping flavorful broth amidst the festive ambiance would be an unexpected fusion of cultures. It's these delightful twists on tradition that make culinary experiences so memorable and keep the excitement alive at the table. 🍣🍜
Mr. Foodie thank you for taking the time to answer my quesation & not bad for answering it in 14 seconds. How’s life in the cloud?

The Famous Turducken or the Famous Tofurkey would both be a great surprise! While the turducken does have turkey in it, it's a very different style. i'd love to try it!
The tofurkey might be okay? I've never had the pleasure. So, if I happen to get tofurkey in the future, I will remember this question and laugh.
When it comes Thanksgiving I have never had Turducken or Tofurkey either & although I have heard of turDUCKen one of these days i would like to try it along with deep fried turkey. Is tofurkey tofu?
i believe it's like a tofu bologna loaf and slices like bologna on a 5 meat cutting setting. it doesn't look like much, but you could add a vegan gravy or whatever and it might be quite nice?
Chinese food. But I think I would rather have Chinese food instead of turkey 🦃. I don't care for the taste of turkey. To me it tastes like blood for some reason.🤷🏼♀️
As for me I could only imagine & I would laugh if I drove two hours to eat Wonton Soup at someone’s house on Thanksgiving. Wonderful answer & thank you for taking the time to answer it. The movie A Christmas Story came to mind for some reason. https://youtu.be/xTq20prt0K8?si=bXC4UTjHGCJL-gZx
As for my questions I’ve been on a dry spell & looking it up the last question I asked was a month ago. I’ll try to come up with a few more.
My wife is Chinese and came to the US when she was 28 years old, so she is not very westernized. I eat Chinese food at least twice a week, but we will DEFINITELY have a traditional meal on Thanksgiving, because I will be doing the cooking.

Spam turkeys
I always love your answers & your posts as well. A spam turkey, talk about the vomit special & hopefully it comes with gravy. Just looked up the shelf life of spam, 2-5 years so I guess you can invite your Thanksgiving guests over next years as well.
Baked Spaghetti casserole with tiny weiners on top. It was my mother's favorite dish, and would bring back some funny memories
Memories are always a wonderful thing & food always seems brings back memories. I never had a baked spaghetti casserole with wieners on top & growing up I’m sure no food went to waste & you had one dish one night & one dish the next & any leftover always made the best casseroles.
Well, most people know that I'm a vegetarian, so they definitely wouldn't serve me turkey or ham... maybe they would surprise me with some veggie pizza instead :P
I love pizza & on Thanksgiving I wouldn’t complain if someone served me any kind of pizza. Speaking of pizza you are giving me a good idea. A Thanksgiving pizza. I know you said you are a vegetarian however a pizza with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, the Thanksgiving works.
I'm glad I inspired your idea for Thanksgiving pizza, you're welcome.
Pizza. But then I’d definitely eat it. I lovvvvve pizza. Lol
It would be fun going to a family gathering & driving far just for a slice of pizza. Pizza is my thing as well & I love it. Maybe I’ll go pick up one later. There is a pizza place 6 minutes away from my house & I have it on speed dial number 3 on my phone.
Picked up a cheese steak stromboli an hour ago, yummy.
Popsicles in hot dog buns
Happy Thanksgiving & that would be one Thanksgiving meal you would have to eat fast before it melts.
Haha I don't celebrate it.. Never have 😂
Instead of Thanksgiving you can always celebrate Friendsgiving.
