You meet this young lady at a social setting.

You have small dialogue.

You go in for the move and ask for her number.

You send her a message hours or days after your encounter.

You notice that none of your calls or text messages

has been answered.

So, what happened?

I'll tell you.

A. She's just not ready

Girl says:

He was really cute, but I am not at the time or place in my life where I am looking to meet another person.

Possible reasons:

-Heart is still broken from previous relationship.

-Parents are extremely strict and won't allow her to have verbal exchanges with boys/men.

-Too busy with school or work that she has no time to balance a potential relationship.

B. You're not her type

Girl says:

He's definitely not my type. I am not saying he's unattractive but he is completely opposite of what I would usually go for. I'll smile and nod like all is fine in the moment, but I know the true thoughts that are lingering in my head.

C. She has a boyfriend

Girl says:

The naughty side of me is intrigued by this man that I just met. I was so wrapped up in the moment that I gave him my number. It is apparent that I did the wrong thing. I know, I will act as if it never happened and not contact him at all.

There's quite a few reasons why a woman will not call or message you after exchanging numbers (as you now can see). This lady could have rejected you immediately but wanted to come across as polite instead of cruel or harsh.

Sometimes people like to avoid a potential situation rather than dealing with it, so they seek the easier way out.

Whatever you do,

Do not reflect on how into you she seemed in those moments and allow yourself to remain in-denial of the outcome.

Actions speak louder than words.

It's clear she doesn't want contact with you for whatever her reason may be.

Just move on!

Yeah... these make sense.

But I think people should probably just be more private with their numbers and realize that if they won't call or text, then it's best if they just say honestly they're not interested and move on. Makes it easier in the long run for both parties. (Or at least it should.)

There is nothing cruel or harsh about rejecting someone. I believe a case can be made that *not* rejecting someone politely, quickly, and decisively is cruel.

Men and women alike have situations in their lives which must be acted upon. The question is do you act upon your thoughts or feelings. In this particular instance, I think it's wiser to act upon thoughts over feelings.

This was really well timed. I just got rejected by my coworker earlier today and was feeling a bit depressed. But instead of wallowing in self pity, I feel motivated to try my best to get over it. I like your writing style, but personally I think ignoring someone by not responding to a text or call is just plain rude. Imagine it the other way round. A polite rejection, notifying someone you are taken would be far more polite and the right thing to do. I've often had a woman flirt with me and then even suggest meeting up and then ignore my text. I often find out FROM SOMEONE ELSE they are engaged. Then I feel bad. But all of this could have been avoided with a simple signal earlier on.

Yeah that's a thing. Some girls outright don't reject you right there because it kills the mood especially if she was having a lovely conversation with you. So they give you their number but have no intention of ever calling you. However, funny enough if she consider you rude/obnoxious and then said guy ask for her number she more would reject him right there.

So the guy who is rude gets the less torturous treatment of getting flat out rejected and can move on funny enough while the guy who was decent to her get the worst treatment of being tortured and wondering why she never responded.

A better way of putting this is if this happens: Don't even think about it. Don't even go through all the scenarios in your head and question things. That in itself is a waste of time. So that explains it. A girl took my number about a couple of months ago but never called or texted. I guess the reason could be all 3. But then why would she say yes when I asked her out and take my number if she had no intention of calling? by the way, I asked for her number but instead she took mine.
