Bartending question!!! Sketchy bar with creepy guys?

So I recently got a job as a bartender at a pretty sketchy bar. By sketchy, I mean that the clients there are all older men and I've heard that it's a bar that sells cocaine...

The customers are all very friendly and good tippers, even though they're overly flirty at times. The customers are all regulars, meaning basically it's always the exact same people there every single day. Last night, one guy was begging me for my number, and I really was put in an awkward situation and couldn't say no, and then through the night he sent me 10-15 text messages harassing me saying how he wanted to go out and stuff.. I answered 2 of them and I said "no sorry, I have a boyfriend" and he kept sending more which I didn't answer.

This was a huge mistake and I wanted to know what a good way of dealing with creepy guys is? How do you refuse to give someone your number without being rude and making things awkward. Like I said, it's always the same clients every day...

I'm really not sure how to deal with the constant flirting from creepy old men.. Help?

All you have to say is you have a bf. Then if they insist say look I am not interested I have a bf, or say you have a finance. You can get a miss direction ring, which will make people think you are married.
There isn't much to make a situation like this not awkward, but you have to not worry about awkward and just stick to your guns. Because other wise guys are going to harass you more and more if they think you are a doormat.
So when someone asks for your number, say Im sorry I have a bf. If someone asks you to go out, ask them if you can bring your bf.
You dont have to be rude, just be cordial and firm. If people get mad, they get mad. You can't make everyone happy.
Though working in a sketchy bar or any bar is going to lead this kind of behavior.

you have to be able to laugh and change the subject. say something like, 'I don't think my boyfriend would like me giving out my number' or even a little flirty 'what would you say on text that you can't say here?' or say 'no you can't have my number but i'll buy you a drink'

you have to find a charming way to sort of divert the conversation and ultimately if the person persists you just have to be firm and say no.

@xkaylakayla "I was put in an awkward situation and couldn't say no"? I'm pretty sure he wasn't holding you at gun point, you've could said no. This is exactly what you say, "I'm sorry, I don't give out my number to clients\customers." It's simply, polite and professional. Now with the flirting situation, there isn't much you can do (expect get another job). When someone makes a creepy remark to you; give them a awkward kinda grossed out smile. It isn't impolite if you don't say anything mean, just give that face. Men pick up on body langue better then words. It's worth a try.

How is the text messages (not including the two you responded to) that he sent you harrassment? I think it is only harrassment if you told him you had a boyfriend sooner.When you were not responding to any of the twexts he was not harrassing.It only became harrassment after you responded to two of his texts telling him you have a boyfriend and he continued to text you anyway.It wasn't harrassment before.

Since they're regulars you can't really tell them that you're not interested in them because then they won't tip you as much. So you need to use an excuse. Having a boyfriend is your best excuse.

Those are the best sort of bars in my opinion. Just be firm but humourous. Tell em you don't mix business with pleasure, and don't give your number out any more

I've worked as bouncer before in that typo before just cos of some bet and I've seen. Bartenders pretty much get used to it so give it a time

You have to be upfront and tell them no
