I have definitely encountered this problem before. I came to the conclusion that it is nothing negative about you, it is just the fact that you are a mature, intelligent woman who doesn't NEED a guy to take care of her. I have had guys like me but never tell me because they think that they aren't good enough or that I am not interested. It is not a cut down...you just need to show that you are interested and that you like people too. Maybe show a asofter side of yourself sometimes. Never appear stupid or unnatural just to get a guy but show that you ARE a girl and therefore are interested in being treated like one...every girl wants to be woo-ed!
that they are kind of nervous around you. They are kind of scared of you. Maybe because you know what you want, your really smart or something like that.
They think you are too good for them, or that you could attract a guy that is better/higher status than them
Usually (not always), when a guy says a girls is "intimidating," that translates to "I think she'll probably turn me down if I ask her out." Ergo, anything that is a threat to his ego is intimidating, whether it's looks or popularity or brains or money or whatever. MadHatterni has a point, too - if you're in really good physical shape, it can make us look like fatbags or weaklings, and we can be kind of touchy about that.
Then again, the girl I'm seeing now is really smart, in fantastic shape, used to be a martial artist, and could probably beat me up if she really wanted to. I guess some of us are into intimidating women ;)
Well, I think you have the idea that anyone who is attractive deserves and should have a partner. This is a very optimistic assumption, but it's not quite true. You need someone who is more or less your equal. I would surmise that these fellas are not quite your equal, and that's their way of letting you know. Basically, if they put their best moves on you, you would probably just laugh.

are you toned and athletic? that could be one of the cases because males don't want a female stronger then them. Then again it could be because you hang around men a lot and have a 6th sense of what to expect from the average guy. That can be scary. too
Some guys think a girl who is too pretty. The think she's soooo pretty that she could not possilby like him. That she's out of his league. It makes even more afraid of rejection. It would be very humiliating to them to be rejected by such a HOT girl.
If you're really pretty/attractive, it can be intimidating for guys if they feel like they don't "measure up" to your standards or whatever. It's basically just a mental thing and comes down to confidence. Your looks *shouldn't* be intimidating but it definitely does happen that way. So you can help offset that by having a friendly personality, smiling alot, being easy to talk to, etc. If you're more distant or come off as stuck up that can add to the intimidation factor.
Guys are sometimes scared of pretty women because they worry they are not good enough for you?
