Why is my ex suddenly flirting with me again?

My ex left me over 6 months ago. It was hard for me but I got through it and moved on well. She left me for another guy and they are still dating. But she's suddenly starting to flirt with me again, over text and stuff. Just small things like teasing and sending me hearts and stuff. She hasn't done that to me since before we started dating when she was interested.
I only want to be friends with her and she's said the same before but I have no idea. Why is she suddenly doing this is what I want to know.

Either they've recently broken up and she's looking to get back on her horse OR things are rocky in her relationship and she's in the process of breaking it with him.

In both situations I reckon she's reaching out to you, because she still likes you and has some level of attraction for you over 51%.
