A girl declined my follow request but then asked to follow me?

I'm confused on this one, there's this girl that i used to know in middle school and she didn't particularly like me back then, but anyways i saw her on instagram and i haven't seen her in like 2 years but asked to follow her. Later i get a request from her to follow me but then see that she wouldn't let me follow her? Usually i would take that as a sign she doesn't like me but then why would she ask to follow me?

Maybe she pressed the wrong button. Or maybe she just wants to see your profile first.. Or maybe she just wants to look at yours but doesn't want you looking at hers!

She might have hit decline by accident and so is trying to now follow you instead. Don't read too much into it if you don't mind just let her follow you and she'll message you if she wants you to follow back.
