You know why all these guys here ask questions like, "She looked at me, does that mean she wants to fuck me?" Because some girl looked at them in the mall.
Why would we look at guys in the mall? We're going there to buy stuff, not to stare at strangers. I never notice when someone is looking at me because I don't care if they look at me, I have things to do.
For the gals there in sweat pants, hair done in a bun, and no makeup, I get you. You're there to get sh! t handled. For the gals dressed up in a great outfit, hair flawlessly done, perfect makeup... They're showing off.
@Bigbear83 false. I hardly go anywhere, so when I do get up to go to the mall or out I like to dress up and look nice. I have a boyfriend, it doesn't mean I'm dressing up hoping boys will approach me. Usually it's girls who will say "I love your hair!" Or something which is nice :)
I do that do not know I do that with every one.. I been told I have bitch stare so i try to look straight ahead not trying tp make no one feel threaten

This is a weird question. Some people just don't like eye contact, especially if the person is so closely passing by you. This 'avoidance' is not just dedicated to men though. Staring can be awkward. But I have to say if a man is staring at me when I pass by then I will definitely notice, but it'll give me more incentive to not look at him because having a stranger stare at me makes me uncomfortable so I don't acknowledge it. And do men want women to stare back?

I do it all the time and to be honest I can't come up with a solid reason. I do it to guys I'm not interested in because I don't want him to approach me thinking I'm interested if he sees me looking at him, however I also do it to guys I DO find attractive, and for that I have absolutely no idea why.
My experience is women look at you more from a distance when approaching and this is when eye contact can happen, but as women get nearer they look past you. But that being said, there are exceptions.
I do this with everyone. It's not gender related. I just simply don't look at other people if i don't know them. Either I stare straight ahead or I stare at the ground.
That's what I do when walking past a yard with a barking dog. They don't want to stand out, or being singled out in the mind of the guy, they're trying to pass by without him noticing her, or at least minimising how much he does.
I think that it's because men tend to be more visual than women, so we are less likely to "check out" a stranger, unlike men, who always turn their heads.

Maybe eye contact eith and acknowledging every single person you pass by is mentally exhausting to women and people in general. lol I actually laughed at the girls here saying they do it because they don't want the guy to take it as a sigh of interest. Many guys, like me for example approach women WE are interested in, regardless of whether they make eye contact with or even notice us. We don't wait for a non-verbal invitation or sign of interest
They either don't want to give you the wrong impression that they are interested, or they are shy and don't want to give away that they are interested because it would make them feel vulnerable.

You know that not all women dress up just to impress men, right? Some do it for themselves, or for other women, even. @Bigbear83
Preach.

Honestly, I do that to everyone, whether male or female. I just don't like eye contact with strangers, it just feels too invasive.
I'm trying not to walk into things... That's usually why I will look straightforward.
Tbh its a miracle to me that relationships even happen anymore given how hard women try these days to avoid men

I feel like I'm making people feel awkward if I look at them because I don't really understand what is socially acceptable

I do that.
I don't know how to explain why but it's nothing personal.
Sometimes I am thinking about somethings.
I am usually on a mission with thousands of thoughts going through my head. I never assume I'm noticed so I never consider how I seem.

Probably we're just hoping to avoid being hit on for the twentieth time that day.
It's a thing we do make it look like we aren't interested sometimes we are sometimes we're just looking ahead.
