It’s interesting to note. That the statement is meaningless actually. It’s meant to be provocative and draw on societal perceptions of norms and behavior between the two sexes. But he basically rolls out the most basic thought process for most anything.

There are lots of reasons to do things. There are reasons that lead to a net benefit, some might call that good, there are reasons that lead to something else. Some might call that bad.

I’d respond by saying “you have a keen grasp of the obvious”.

Everyone does this basic calculation on virtually everything we do. Like right now I want to hit pizza dog. I have a reason for it. But I’m not going to do it because the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

He is using an emotional appeal by inserting the biological sex equation. The male (implied) hitting the female (explicit) is meant to draw attention away from the mere process of calculation by implying that it somehow is accepted in society that it is forbidden to discuss the thought process. People bite on the emotional aspect of the words not the mental process. He’s basically saying in words what every human does a thousand times a day and repackagingit to make it sound provocative.
