Guy I have a crush on is crying on my shoulder?

This guy that I've been crushing on for over a year approaches me two weeks ago because the girl that he's been dating for a month dumped him. He's very shy and we're not very good friends at all, but there has always been this unspoken attraction/connection between us. Anyways I have been trying to help him with this girl, giving advice, and being supportive, etc. The relationship with him is really over and he invited me to a movie tomorrow night as a 'thank you' for being there for him. I know he knows that I like him -- we kinda talked about it.

OK, guys, give me some advice on what is going on in his head or what I should or shouldn't do. He is treating this like just a friend thing and so will I, but I really, really like him.

It takes some level of trust for him to feel like he can talk to you about his problems, especially if he's shy like you say...that's a good foundation to build on for any relationship whether you stay friends or get closer...I wouldn't try to rush things or make him feel put on the spot about whether he feels the same just yet...give it time, I mean still be yourself, but I'd try to give him more subtle hints like flirting--touching his arms gently when he says something funny, etc..hold your gaze while looking in his eyes, give him a sweet adoring look & look to see if it's returned...I woud just try to make him feel comfortable making the first move, or at least look for signals he likes you as more than a friend, then make your move...don't overthink it, enjoy your time together & try to let things happen naturally . I say at the movie tell him exactly how you feel. He invited you most likely because he likes you too. I would go for it. :)
