Why do older women always ask me If I have a girlfriend?

Right now for my school I am rotating through different hospitals. I have been meeting and working with a ton of new people.

I notice some of the older women ( just old enough to have their own kids) I work with ALWAYS ask me some of the same questions. Many times they ask if I have a sister or if I have a girlfriend. Ill say no and they will start asking me why not and try to give me advice and they become like my love guru or they say they will set me up with someone.

Contrary to popular myth, men have societal expectations put on them exactly the same as women. Older people who were raised with little to no awareness of the potentially toxic effects of those expectations still pretty much behave that way, sometimes. Men’s role has always been to produce, provide and protect. If you’re not doing that, then you’re defective. Particularly if they like you, they don’t want you to be marginalized for being defective. So they’ll try to figure out if you are or not. If they think you’re okay, they may try to intervene and set you up. We can’t have a capable male go to waste after all. Get to work, boy! Some woman could make use of your money! Ell oh ell!

Middle aged ladies tend to be more expressive/uninhibited on their sweet side towards young lads, which is nice. It's good to know, that they like boys.

Young girls seem to be afraid or too shy of doing so.

It's just something that some older women like doing. My oldest sister is like that, she's always asking me why I don't have a boyfriend. I suppose they're noisy and want to have something to gossip about. Don't mind them.
