Why are white women obsessed with being anything but white? Also why is racial fetishization so prevalent amongst them?

I’ve noticed more and more recently that white girls think it’s cute to change their race. I’ve noticed them “tanning” to dark brown, wearing really dark make up, using make up to create monolids, speaking in fake latin accents, and trying so hard to relate to poc.

For decades white women have been the standard. Blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin, thin lips, etc. And they were proud to look that way. But ever since woc (women of color) have become more accepting of themselves and their features it seem white women have been trying to imitate these features. It seems that being ethnic is a “trendy esthetic” to them now that the world is appreciating woc.

Its gotten so prevalent nowadays that people “forgot what white girls truly look like” I forgot who, But someone said this because lighter skin poc with a non-European background have been getting called white. Basically girls with light tan skin, plump lips, loosely curled hair, and obvious ethnic fetuses are getting called white because real white girls have been going for this “esthetic” lately. Some women of color have even been accused of copying white girls looks even though they themselves are natural while the white girls are using tanning spays, heavy darker makeup, and lip fillers.

It’s becoming the norm now for white girls to try and blend in with woc. So this has me curious as to why. Why are white girls tryna be “colored”? Why is it that ethnic features are widely accepted on white women but condemned on woc? Why are racial features considered an esthetic and, or trendy but white features are considered the default? Why is it that white girls are still considered the standard yet they want to be ethnic so bad?

It just doesn’t make since to me. Y’all had the whole world believing that “white is right” but now y’all want woc skin tones, facial features, hair textures, accents, etc. Why can’t you just be happy being you? White women have it made, how tf do you get borde with being white? 😂

Come on. White women aren’t the only women borrowing fashion styles from a different culture. I’ve seen plenty of black girls dye their hair blonde and/or put straight weave into their scalp. I don’t think it’s a fetish or anything. Maybe they just like the look? I really love Mexican food but that doesn’t mean I have a fetish. Sometimes cheeseburgers and French fries get old.


That’s what usually happens when different cultures live amongst eachother for a long time. They start exploring each others traits, cultures and customs. It’s like that with food and music too. We’re all basically the same. Humans are 99.99 percent identical in dna but we still fight over the basic stuff instead of learning acceptance and sharing. It’s ok if you like things that aren’t from your culture.

@Dongtai This isn’t a cultural thing though. The way you look when you are born has nothing to do with culture. When it gets to the point of painting on monolids, speaking in a fake accents, and completely changing your hole entire natural look to copy a different races natural look and saying you are that race, it’s got to be a fetish at that point. Eating cultural food, and indulging in certain cultural fashion styles is different. There is nothing wrong with that as long as there is mutual respect. The whole “I’m gonna be a different race today” thing is weird to me. Also I’ve seen some of them have the mentality of “I get to go back to being white at the end of the day, you’re stuck like that” when they get called out for “race swapping”.

@Anna__M I agree with you completely, white women hated ethnic features. All the way up until they where able to recreate and now poc women are still being dragged for stuff like have a blaccent (but when a white women fakes a blaccent) all of a sudden she’s so chill and nice. Fancy hoop earrings where popularized by black women but when we first started wearing them, we where “ghetto, ratchet” white women decides she likes the same thing, now their high fashion, classy. And don’t even get me started on the melanin/tanning 😭 It’s so obviously a double standard.

Also for @Donggai she’s not arguing about that, she’s arguing about white women taking stuff from other cultures, passing them on as their own and appropriating it. It’s disrespectful to the culture where said hypothetical things derived from.

The girls in the lower echelons of society aren't doing this crap. Girls of any race in the working classes where I live seem perfectly happy with who they are. And are very accepting of any other girl of any race.

Seems the race thing is very serious among the higher educated (indoctrinated?) lol.

Growing up poor means doors are closed. Your race is irrelevant. And we all know that down here, and don't have any grief towards anyone down here with us. We just wish the upper classes would stop lecturing us on how we should think. Like they have any real clue...

it's awful i know girls that started fake tanning at like 13 but were racist and it is hypocritical, i can't really think of why they would do it, i think black beauty doesn't belong to them especially with the historical context, i can't apologize for anybody but myself but i am ashamed of myself for not realizing these things sooner

So dark brown 🟤 is a beach glow now 🧐? And black girls don’t straighten hair to look white. Straight hair won’t make a black girl look any less black. White girls have been going out of their way to transom into other races completely. Ie. fake monolids, fake accents, supper dark make up and tanning spray. You can’t deny it. The are trying to be “trans racial”.

Fair color is still the most desired color, majority of the world population (China / India) Asian countries still holds this belief.
They have cosmetics to make you look white and beautiful, dark women are their number one customers

Its not only white also also blacks who die to look like a snow white

Also as to why they would want to be that, well, in our society whites are discriminated against so the best way to gain the privileges that minorities have is to look like a minority. So far I haven’t really seen that. I’ve seen them copy style and speech patterns. But not your looks.
