What does the nickname "porcelain doll" mean?

My room mates call me that, I don't want to ask them so I will sound like I am fishing for compliments and I do know it is probably positive. I just wanna know what traits are associated with that because I get called a "doll" pretty often

At least 100 years ago, before plastic was invented, they used to make a girl's doll (the head, arms and legs, anyway) out of porcelain. Sometimes they were also called China dolls because they made dinner plates out of the same stuff. Dinner plates and the like, were called, China. That's why you might have a china closet in your house. It's usually where the GOOD dinner wear was kept.
It IS a compliment and it just means that they think you're as cute or precious as one of those dolls. A lot of people collect them and they can be worth a lot of money because they were so fragile that, a lot of them, were broken over the years.

Regular dolls are meant to be taken out of the box, dressed up and played with (hug them, kiss them, cuddle with them). Porcelain dolls arrive "perfect" and are meant to sit on a shelf or inside of a glass case to be admired, but never played with.
