My Mom had caught me staying up past my 10:00 PM bedtime 3 times in a week. She let me off the first 2 times, but after the 3rd time when she caught me on my phone in my room when I was supposed to be asleep with the lights out she said “Ok, that’s it. This is the 3rd time this week you disobeyed me, now your being spanked. She sat down on my bed and told me to take off my pants and underwear. I knew I had to do what she said. So, I did. She spanked me bare bottom until my bottom was rosy red. Afterwards she knew I was in pain so she applied some ponds cold cream cleanser to alleviate the pain. I was also grounded for 2 weeks as punishment for disobeying my Mom after having 2 chances before. I just finished my punishment a day ago and just was wondering what anyone else thought. It was painful and embarrassing for me but my mom did give me many chances to obey her. Do you think this was an ok way to punish me and that she was justified?

I'd smack my son if he was in a situation where he was potentially in danger. He's 2. In that time I've smacked him once as he reached up towards a hot stove (gas ring on). He's never reached up to a hot pan since.

I wasn’t trying to make My Mom look bad by posting this. I just did to see what others would think and it seems like a mix. She let me off with no punishment the first to times. Either way though I know I have to listen to her regardless because she is my parent which means she is the boss of me.

I got that. I may have said that out of line. Spanking is not usual once you become a teen. Most parents just get angry and shout at you. They don't try to inflict body pain which is why i think your mom doesn't like being disrespected

This is why I joined this website because I can share things and still be anonymous… and I know everyone is going to have different opinions on the matter from some people calling this abuse, some thinking it’s just to old of an age for this, and some reassuring me that this is completely ok and justified for her because she is my parent and can punish me how she thinks is appropriate… but I will at least say being Russian and Ukrainian that this is not to our of the ordinary out culture, and like I said she never has actually hit or beat me which and rarely every even spanks me unless this is her last resort to get me in line and this was the case in this situation… and this is the first time I was punished in like 6 months at all in any way. That’s what I though at first but I couldn’t help but feel bad for disobeying her. Me and my Mom have always had a very close Mother-daughter relationship and still do. Mainly because she says I was always a good daughter but she said she knows I will slip up at times and will have to be punished. She told me she is proud of me though and will try to avoid spanking me as much as possible. We left because my Mom wanted to give me a better chance of a good life, education and career. I’ve always been a straight A honors student here and that’s why I just try my best to do what my Mom tells me, because she’s a single parent but she was still able to get us to an upper middle class situation by the time I started middle school. I also do ballet 5 hours a day, 6 days a week. I know everyone might not agree with my Moms parenting style but the whole reason she did all of this was to give me a better life.
