Why does my friend copy everything I do?

She copies the way I dress and I feel like anything I achieve she always tries to do better than me and show off.. job wise and everything. I bought my first ever car (a 2015) she bought her own not even a month later (not even having a license) a brand new 2021 car. whenever she would come in my car I see her looking at all the decorations I have for my car and next thing you know she copies and puts the EXACT same decorations that I have in her car same placement and everything. Even her mom has told my mom that she wants everything I have. It’s honestly creepy

They say "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", but yes, it becomes creepy after a certain point, plus it's sad that some people cannot be happy being themselves and strive to be someone they will never be. It sounds like your friend is very envious of you, and also very insecure about herself.

I had a friend who was kind of like this, to the point that she wanted the same boyfriend as me, in high school. She ended up flirting with him and he wanted to have his cake and eat it too and thought the grass was greener on the other side, so I was very hurt and upset about it.

Whatever she does though, don't let it undermine your successes! It doesn't matter what year your car is, buying your first car is a huge deal and a great accomplishment! Plus, I'm a firm believer that newer doesn't always equal better and that the year of a car doesn't matter as long as it's a good, reliable car. I am still driving my 2009 car and wouldn't trade it for anything, as it is perfect for me and has been (and still is) an excellent car!

Come to think of it, a funny story is that I have a family member who has always been very competitive with me and felt the need to one-up me with a car too, TWICE. Some people cannot stand anyone else having the spotlight and feel the need to be the center of attention at all times, or to feel like they are the very best. If material things is the only way they can feel good about themselves, that is really pretty sad, though. I think it bothered her even more that I didn't let it bother me (as to me, what really matters is that I love my vehicle, since I'm the one driving it and the only person it needs to please; I couldn't care less what other people think of it), congratulated her, and complimented the cars. I think some of those people want really badly for others to feel as insecure as they are.

This girl feels the need to be in competition with others and is constantly comparing herself and her life to yours, and that is a very unhappy way to live. Just keep doing what is best for you and what makes you happy! If she tries to act like she's better and more accomplished than you, just know that that is a result of her own insecurities and she is trying to convince herself more than anything.

Stop being her friend she has no identity and will always be jealous of you, will try to smash ur boyfriend's and future husband if you ever do get married.

Can confirm, as I had a friend who was like this attempt to "steal" my boyfriend at the time (and she actually succeeded, though TBH, if that's all he thought of me, they both ended up doing me a favor). It was still a huge slap in the face though, especially since she wanted to continue being close friends as if nothing ever happened.

@aWes0MeNeSs yeah i had a weirdo friend back then who i dont speak too cause all he did was copy me everytime when i bought clothes he bought clothes, when i bought a new car he went and got a newer car and he would ask me what chicks i was talking too and the min he starts talking to them they won't speak to me anymore and then once i asked him for a chicks IG and he. claimed he didn't know it and i checked his IG he is following her dude was mad weird like that i don't know if he was gay or something but i dropped him as friend and haven't spoken to him sense
