Guy's Behavior

If a guy teases you in a kinda mean way does that mean he likes you or does that just mean he is a really mean jerk?

So there is this guy I kinda like I used to KINDA talk to him 3 years ago but we stopped I don’t know why anyways I have a class with… i have that guy and three friends in that class my friend said a joke towards me and the guy I used to talk too I thought it was funny so I copied him (me and him copy each other a lot we are good friends) I told my friend next to me let’s just call her Emma, the same joke and the guy I used to like heard me I don't know why and he said out loud for some reason while laughing “I love how she copies everything you say!” In a rude laughing manner? My friend looked at me awkwardly and told me he was just teasing me? But I can’t tell if he is just a jerk I rarely even talk to him anymore?
