I think it stems from finding something about them attractive that is usually seen as unconventional or unattractive. You might find that their behaviors or personality is something people would avoid, but you’re more drawn to it…
I think there could be many subconscious reasons why you’d be attracted to them.
- You know that no one else likes them (no competition)
- They are “different” and it makes them stand out
- You feel more comfortable with them because you don’t feel as intimidated as you would with someone who is unattractive
- You might consider what other people consider “flaws” as “perfections”
