Have a complicated relationship with my coworker whom I have real feelings for. Her mom followed me randomly. Has she talked to her mom about me?

Hi, so, I'm new to this and this is my first post I'm submitting. I don't know where to begin exactly, but I'll try to elaborate as best as I can. This girl and I are coworkers and we've known each other for almost a year. We had little interactions every now and then which I enjoyed, but one day after we worked together, she had found my social media and followed me. I did the same shortly after and we talked back and forth for hours that day. And for the first few weeks it was the same story. We eventually had long phone calls every other night and were watching movies together. Slowly but surely, I developed feelings for this girl, and I believed she had started feeling some type of way about me as well.

I expressed my affection in a subtle way one afternoon and she told me it gave her a complete anxiety attack afterwards. This was months ago. Things haven't been the same since. We have no more phone calls, barely talk or see each other at work these days, and almost every time I do see her, she intentionally avoids eye contact and is short with me in any conversation I try to start up with her. She's mentioned feeling nervous around me and also not wanting to be as close anymore. Needless to say, I've been an emotional wreck dealing with this change between us, and have been battling between the choices of giving us time or giving up. Now, here's where we get to the real mystery and to the question.

Recently, on an insignificant day out of nowhere, I got a notification that her mom (that I have never met or have spoken to) followed me on Instagram. Was shocked, because on my end, nothing I did sparked that up, and all I've been wanting to know is why. I viewed her profile and she doesn't follow her daughter's other coworkers, so it's an isolated occurence. Also, her page was private and she accepted my follow request. I messenged her but got no reply. What do you guys make of this? How likely is it that she told her mom about me? And was this a good sign?

I think if your crush's mother added you randomly and you didn't request a friendship first, then she is definitely talking to her mother about the relationship you both have.

It would seem too coincidental if it truly was a random add.

I would say that if you don’t know her at all, your coworker likely said something about you to her mom and she decided to check you out. It could be that she said some positive things and her mom wanted to see who you were.
