She is angry with me after I ignored her signals?

I (30 M) met this girl (24 F) about three months ago and liked her at the very first moment, she showed me tons of hints that she likes me. I ignored her for the first two months because I was given the impression that she has a boyfriend. She turned cold on me a month ago and never talked to me again.

About two weeks ago, I learned that the man I thought was her boyfriend was actually her childhood best friend, and she has been single for a while. I have been trying to talk to her and explain that I ignored her due to a misunderstanding, but she would run away before I can finish a word every time. And she has been trying her best to avoid me.

We don't have any friends in common to pass a word and I don't have her contact info. We run into each other fairly often, but she avoids any conversation now. How should I proceed?

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I don't really mind if she rejects me, I'm just concerned if it would make her uncomfortable, would you be uncomfortable in this situation?

If you “run into her fairly often” and feel you have a moment with her, then ask. If not. Don’t. Wait for eye contact and a gap in conversation. If that doesn’t happen she might be past it.

I do run into her fairly often, she runs away every time right after I try to build eye contact. I would have to chase her to have a conversation which is why I was concerned about making her uncomfortable. She does stay around until I notice her though, it has been twice where I did not see her at first, and caught her watching me by accident. She run away right after I saw where she was in these two incidents. It almost feels like she wanted me to notice that she is disgusted by me and do not want to engage in any conversations meanwhile.
