Many receptionists use, "Darling, Honey, Sweety," when talking to anyone they interact with. They seem to think it's endearing and friendly. I personally find it cringy and unprofessional.

First of all, reception staff HAVE to be female, and secondly, it's just easier to use a generic, friendly term of address when you deal with possibly hundreds of people every day.
