I’d say it depends on their goals. When a man sees a woman, what she’s wearing may steer his mind in a certain direction.


Dressing sexy is likely going to steer minds into the direction of sexual thoughts. This is probably better to do for someone when you’re already in a committed relationship with them and you want to stir up passion.


But, it’s bad if you don’t have commitment already because it can bring sex into the forefront of the minds of guys you haven’t secured commitment from yet.


Dressing cute is pretty safe. I believe this would attract types that may be more protective and nurturing. Like, Daddy vibes, haha. But of course, it can attract many other types too. It’s both attractive and innocent. It’ll make you feel more approachable. It’s fun and light and many people are drawn to that sort of cute and fun energy.


The downside for dressing cute is if you need to assert authority or dominance or establish boundaries, it may be harder to sway stubborn people. So, it’s probably best to dress cute around people you feel safe around who you know will respect your boundaries.


Someone mentioned beautiful, which I think is good as well. It’s versatile can can be used for any occasion pretty much. You will be taken seriously, yet you will still feel approachable and attractive. (Maybe not as approachable as if you were dressing cute, but more approachable than if you dressed too formally.)


Clothing isn’t organized in neat separate categories though, so everything is on a spectrum.


But yes, I would agree, that generally speaking, looking cute is better than looking sexy.


It’s the most attractive in general (even platonically) I’d say. It’ll make you the most approachable for men and women to get to know you.

My problem is sometimes I like dressing sexy but I am deep down not the kind of person I portray myself like.

Actually my boyfriend always told me that I was very cute. Cuter than sexier. That’s probably when I was with him, I was myself without any masks.

but usually even if I dress modestly, I think it causes lots of unwanted sexual thoughts from men’s side.

Like the other day I was just wearing tight jeans and black top, no extra skin showed, still men looked with hungry eyes.

And then when I complained to my gay friend about this, he said, what do you expect when you walk around with butt like that. I think, my body shape, while might not be anything special, is kind of sexual and already predisposing men’s minds into sexual thoughts. Which I really dislike because I am not looking for anything casual and I’d just like to be noticed because of my smile, rather than my other parts.

How can you change that though?

Mant a time, it is. The way people see you changes. It is not about girls only, but gets applied to boys too. But girls seem to get more attention here.

I would say, cute is on the safer side. Trying to look sexy can attract wrong kind of attention.

I don't know if its a disadvantage or not, but here is the difference. You look cute naturally. However, of you look sexy, either you are wearing something sexy or you behave sexy, even if it is subtle.

So yes, some might prefer what comes naturally.
