Im cringing at myself hard right now. I wished a stranger a happy mother's day?

Ok so what happened. I'm friends with this guy who I have a little crush on. We've known each other for a few months but just started being friends/talking for two weeks. I thought it would be nice to wish his mom who I never met a happy mother's day.

I texted it to him wishing his mom a happy mother's day. Then after I looked it up to see if it was ok to wish strangers a happy mother's day. A lot of people where saying you shouldn't wish a stranger a happy mother's day, only the women who have directly nurtured you in your life should you say that to.

Now I'm cringing so hard at myself. I don't believe his mom has any bad memories or anything awful tied to mother's day. She has a few kids and she's a hard working woman that's all I know about her.

But I feel embarrassed now for wishing a stranger a happy mother's day.

One reason strangers should not wish a Happy Mother's day to a stranger is because she doesn't have any kids, and is not able to have any. Could be hitting a soft spot there.
It reminds me of when my coworkers asked one of the guys wives when her baby was due. The lady replied "I'm not pregnant". She was over weight around her tummy area. But my coworker was so embarrassed!

I think that's a cultural thing, here in Argentina it isn't weird, Is actually pretty common. Me and my friends say "happy mothers days to your mothers dudes" every mothers day almost
