How big of a role does smell play in liking someone?

I was sitting down when some girl I had seen before but never talked to came up behind, rested her head on my shoulders, and then proceeded to sniff me. She said she liked the way I smelled, all I could do was laugh. I thought she was messing around but she kept hanging around me, ten minutes later she was sitting next to me telling me her life story and wondering about mine. I realize this was over the top and not everyone acts on impulses, but what goes through a ladies mind when she encounters a guy who smells good to her?

Well smell t me is a deal breaker if the guy smells bad I don't care how good looking he is or nice I wouldn't be able to date him, girls are attracted to smell when we can smell a guy that has good cologne then we feel like we need to stand close to you because it's said to be what draws a person to one another. Smell can determine if your sexually attracted to someone it's just something in our bodies that react to great smelling guys :)

Yes. lol, no I'm saying I have no idea whether of not smell has to do with anything really. I've never met a guy that I've noticed smelled good, but I have met guys who my friends said smelled good and he didn't to me. He was also not attractive to me. But I have met guys who I though were very attractive but I also never noticed how they smelled. She's probably attracted to you. But again in my case I still don't know whether smell has to do with anything.

Some of my girl friends have told me that everyone' scent is very different and a key component. I've had some girls I've dated who can't stop smelling me, even if I'm not wearing cologne they think I smell amazing. Me on the other hand am only interested in smelling their twats.

If the target smells good, it'll turn the sniffer on. Smell bad and you'll lose points.

Biologically - scent is a major role in attraction as it plays on creating psyological advantages in the offspring (basically what Shawzie said about immunity and stronger genetics -)

What science says on the other hand is that pheromones attract people and a guys smell can actually tell a women's subconscious if he is a good mate because his immune systems varies from hers making any offspring likely to be healthier.
