I've never experienced a girl playing "hard to get". Do you think guys may confuse it with a girl not giving strong enough signals of interest? I know when I've told a girl I was interested, they NEVER pretended like they weren't, if they were actually interested in me. In fact, most would almost instantly become girlfriend material. They'd call all the time, bring food over, make plans... none ever blew me off in hopes I'd keep chasing them. I think some guys confuse a girl that just isn't interested, as playing "hard to get". Girls, if you are truly interested in a guy, do you make him chase you? Do you play "hard to get"?
I've only seen friends "play" 'hard to get' when they did not want to get 'get'. But girls' (in) ability to drop hints and guys' (in) ability to catch hints on top of that makes it this completely unclear tbh.

Some people probably do, but it's way less common than some people seem to think. I'm under the impression it tends to be a subculture/fad/fake thing that appears more on the internet than in reality.
Well the whole point of playing hard to get is optimizing for guys that don't respect boundaries so most guys will just move on.

I actually think that’s dumb. But hey, I’ve always been the straightforward type anyway. 🤷🏽♀️
