What does it mean if a girl says she needs to think things through?

I told the girl I like how I felt about her and she said that’s a lot to process and that she needs more time to think. I responded with just get back to me when you can and she said ok I will. Does this mean she won’t say yes to a date? What would you recommend I do to heighten the chances that she will say yes?

Update: after that she sent me a photo of her ankle sprained or broken. I told her if she needed anything I would help. Guess I’ll never know what she really thought about me.

Heighten the chances? Don't bug her. Don't get all awkward about it and act different or weird than you used to. Show her that you can be mature and respect her wanting to think things through. Let her think it through.

But, yeah, if you're celebrating new years and she hasn't said anything, she's trying to let you down easy.

I wouldn't put a length of time though not. One of three things will happen: she'll say she wants to be with you; or she'll say she doesn't want to be with you; or she doesn't say anything and you'll become friends with another girl and your affection will shift to her.

BUT because you were a good guy in this case, you still have a friend in this current girl.

Do you have any reason to believe that she wouldn't have just meant the straightforward, common sense interpretation of those words?

When I hear a comment like that, I hear that as meaning that she genuinely just needs time to think. She hasn't made up her mind yet. She's living life on her schedule and has to decide how she can envision you fitting into that.

It means she needs to think things through. Give her 3 or 4 weeks and text her to ask how she is doing. Say your feelings haven't changed and ask if she has thought about what you said. Say you would love to see her.
