Why does society shame mom bods but praise dad bods?

It doesn't make sense... The dads didn't even do any of the hard work growing the baby. I think it's time for mom bods to become a trend instead of the dad bods

Both get shamed, and both get appreciated. It really just depends on the crowd. Mom bods are definitely another category where it's mostly incels and women fussing over them. No guy has ever looked at my body and even been able to tell I'm a mom, so... On a lot of women it's not even easily noticed unless we point it out.

Some women get some serious stretch marks though, and that might be what's actually off-putting for some. A man with a ton of belly stretch marks will likely get the same judgement as a woman with them. They can be very unsightly on men and women. I know I'd have the same reaction if either took off their shirt and had them.

Same for fat. Fat men and fat women both get judgement. Arguably, fat women have a much easier time getting laid. Same cna be said for women with stretch marks vs men with stretch marks.

My friend had 5 kids, and 2 were twins. She has ridiculous stretch marks from it. That being said, I still found her attractive after, and her husband certainly does. So, it's not really an issue to people who matter.

Because women's bodies are always more judged than men's bodies. It doesn't matter if a woman gains or loses weight, her body will be always "ugly".

Besides people expect women to always look perfect. That's not realistic and it's also unfair.

I don't know but, I got to see mom's completely naked body shortly before she died a few years ago (I had to help the nurse change her clothes in bed one day) and, for as old as she was and for as bad as I'd always imagined her body to be (she was always wearing one-piece bathing suits when swimming, like she was ashamed of it), she had a pretty nice looking body at 81!! It actually looked better than any of the 3 girls I ever fucked!
I guess it's because society puts a LOT of stock into how a woman's body should look and, if it doesn't look that good, or as good as some teen girl would look, she gets shamed and embarrassed for it.

But to the question, I think it's a forever-old (and wrong) double-standard with overall female ideals even for non-Mom bods. Possibly becoming worse with the onslaught of social media - and the prevalence of photoshopping. Unfortunately this will likely get worse with the AI tidal wave.

In short, people are assholes. Perhaps, if we didn't watch so much media and idolize individuals, this would be less of a problem.
I'm not suggesting that people give up a healthy lifestyle and let themselves go.

I think we all need to quit portraying, or projecting an expectation of perfection or unreasonable beauty standards on each other.

Two thoughts come to mind:

1.) Are "dad bods" really praised in a serious way that often? From direct personal experience, I believe most of the time we're praised in more of a comical/sarcastic way, and not really in a serious way.

2.) There's a portion of the female population (albeit small) that are "chubby chasers".

I never thought dad bods were ever "praised." They were just accepted. I don't know why that actor was ever porky like that, but he's slimmed down and buffed up for the Guardians of the Galaxy film series. It's never been an attractive look.

And it is true, some women's skin never recovers despite weight loss after childbirths, especially multiple ones.

All either sex can do is be as fit and eat as well as possible to look as good as possible.

My girlfriend has a mom bod. I love it. I've got ultimate dad bod. She loves it. Woman in pic is just fine nothing wrong with it.

But if I was with her and she decided that she wanted a mommy lift, I'd support her. If she did nothing, I'd support her. In other words I'd love her and be there for her no matter what.

I think everyone should like what they're attracted to and not what others say is "trendy" to be attracted to. I was NEVER into what people call "dad bods" which really is just FAT out of shape men bodies, chris Pratt was not even a dad there and he now AS A DAD has a way better body, so the term is ridiculous.

if I'm ever into a fat man is because I fell in love with him and when you love someone you tend to love all about them even their weird imperfections. but being out of shape in general is unattractive to most in general by nature.

Part of it, unfortunately, is biology. Moms are spent/already used up, and lose the ability to bear young as they get get older. They have an important social role, but are less desirable to men as breeding stock. Dads on the other hand bring some modicum of maturity, stability, and proven success that makes them attractive to both older and younger females.

Honestly I’ve never seen that really in society where women who have had children were shamed for their bodies. To me the whole dad bod was a joke, mainly in response to a lot of women would complain men just stare at their bodies. So it wasn’t so much a thing that was taken serious. It was for laughter. I’ve always heard of women who didn’t want men w that particular body type, so that made it even more of a joke when men starting calling it a dad bod.
