I told my neighbor I liked her. I even left her a rose on Valentine’s Day. I noticed she started avoiding me, so I called her over and told her I noticed she was avoiding me. She told me she wasn’t, but that she only saw me as a friend, and as a neighbor. I told her I didn’t want there to be any friction between us, and we agreed to keep things friendly. She never told me to leave her alone. She never to stop talking to her.
I approached her the next day to feel how she responded to my presence, and she walked away from me. I didn’t chase after her.
Before I even told her I liked her, I told her I was going to brick the space outside my door to have an outdoor space to write and read.
And yes, our apartments units are closely next to each other.
She babysits this 3 year old girl. The next day I heard the girl crying and her being frustrated over it. I was writing outside. When she came out, I approached her and asked her if wanted me to entertain the girl a little bit. She initially said no, and I dropped it, but then she approached me with a smile and let the girl play with me for a bit.
The day after, I spent a good part of the day outside writing and reading like before. I had noticed on her sister’s feed that they had attended a concert. When I saw her, I simply asked her if she had enjoyed the concert and left her alone the rest of the day. In my mind everything was okay
Later that night, I simply text her sister who was visiting how long she was going to stay. I thought things were okay. She went off on me.
According to her, I’m harassing her sister. That she had already told me to leave her alone but that I wasn’t listening, but that her sister couldn’t even feel comfortable in her own home. That if I didn’t stop harassing her sister that she would have to get other people involved. To leave her alone.
I reached out to my neighbor, sending her snaps of the text her sister was sending me, but she never answered me back.
it feels so hypocritical.
