Men and Licking Lips, meaning?

So, I've recently been in Asia, Sri Lanka, and since I'm as pale as a white wall I surely stood out and everyone ended up looking at me as if I were a strange circus freak.

As this happened, men in street, my age and lot older were always licking their lips at me. It freaked me out and I found it really gross.

But, what is the meaning behind this guys? What were they hinting at? I think I have an idea but I want to hear from you.

Either they're lips are dry or they were attracted to you. I would go with the second one because first of all you're white and you stand out in a country where everybody is tanned/dark skinned. Secondly, I don't know why but in Sri Lanka the guys get really excited and start acting horny and pervy whenever they see an even remotely attractive girl who is a tourist. I'm Sri Lankan (well originally, I'm from London but my parents are Sri Lankan) and me and my sister both get stares whenever we go to Sri Lanka on holidays. Not so much my mum and dad because they were raised and brought up there and lived there for most of their lives so people can usually tell they aren't really tourists. But me and my sister can't walk down a single road without getting stares because they can usually tell by the way we dress and talk that we were not brought up in Sri Lanka. We are obvious tourists. Whenever we're in Sri Lanka I always see guys licking their lips at my sister and stuff. It's really funny. I guess in Sri Lanka guys have a different way of letting a girl know they're interested.

Yeah, there are some horny bastards in our country , not to mention most fisherman , pavement shop owners and so on. As it's common with many people when they see tourists the they do stuff that they think might actually looks cool to the foreigners . Or maybe just being plain horny and just trying to freak the hell out of you!

Well you look different so automatically you will have the extra attention of course, even if it's unwanted. But I think they thought you were good looking.

They're hungry or their lips are dry...or if I'm correct if the licking of lips comes with a creepy stare, they are very attracted to you.

If you were next to the ocean, then the salt sucks moisture from the air, then they might be just moistening their lips..couple that with old people not taking care of themselves anymore...

Well what you thought was right...those are the people who think white girls are always looking for sex. Not a harsh if you have heard about how much sri lanka beach boys and white girls love each other
