No I don't expect it. But you can't spot someone you like the look of and expect them to make the move, what if they don't notice you? Or even think about that option? Whoever thinks of approaching anyone should do it. The worst that could happen is they say no, and if they do you take that and move on, don't get butthurt.
The worst thing is not so light as you seem to suggest. It will be a bitter disappointment, a blow to your moral, and a stab in your heart. That is to say if you really have genuine heart felt feelings for the person in question.
If it just someone like so many others that you just want to try your luck with, then agreed. You're right. Its whatever. But only if you do not have much feelings going on in the first place!
Well, most guys always do make the opening move.
