Not anymore because modern women are not ladies and are entirely undeserving of chivalry. Unless I know that she has character and is a lady I wouldn't help a woman in trouble, and even then if she wasn't family I wouldn't risk my life in the slightest to help.

No more than you are obligated to help a man who’s in trouble. In general, I think you should help anyone who is in trouble if you are able, especially if it isn’t going to put you or someone else in harm’s way.

Obligated no, should you I still say yes. I was raised to be a gentleman and I don't regret that for a second. My mother is no weak woman and she was the one that pushed that more than my dad. If I see a woman in need I'm going to help. I'll deal with it after if she is the kind who will be upset for me attempting to help.

So was I and that teaching would have ruined my life if the community hadn't known me and my wife already. Helped a woman who needed help she then claimed I raped her. She was laughed out of every place she tried to tell the story because I spend all my time with my wife it is a literal impossibility unless my wife was also present. After that woman pulled that shit I sued her for defamation, slander, false accusations. End result she lost her apartment, her car, her job and ended up homeless. I scrapped her car and last I heard (3 years ago) she was still homeless. Got what she fuckin deserved and I have since not helped a woman except my wife. Saw a woman get assaulted felt bad but wasn't going to risk false accusations she got beat to shit. Guy did get arrested.

@JacobJordan well I'm sorry that happened to you but for me that would not stop me. I'm not going to let one crazy woman change me helping people. I don't let woman who get upset if I open the door stop me from opening doors for women. Doing the right thing thing is not about doing the easy or safe thing to me it's about doing what is right no matter the cost.

Yeah for me what is right is protecting my family if I was still single I would have continued but I have 3 small children and a wife to protect and provide for. So the right choice is family first.

A man in most cases is capable of protecting himself, if he isn't than he's a weak man (obviously there's exceptions). An average women is genetically weaker than an average man. Because of that I would put myself in harms way to help a woman simply because it is what's right, I expect nor want nothing in return. For a woman, a child, the elderly, disabled people I would go out of my way to help simply because it's right.

Your pov is true and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. However, if everyone saw it that way it sets up a very selfish and weak minded society. I would not want to teach children how you think on this matter
