Why is my friend constantly bragging about guys who have a crush on her and who hit on her?

I have this friend from uni I’ve known her for a few years but I always come away from social interactions with her feeling drained.

It seems that all she ever wants to talk about it guys. She has a boyfriend but is constantly talking about what guy gives her attention and what guy has a crush on you. She said “my brother had a friend who had a huge crush on me and bought me perfume every year so I’ve got a big collection”. And “I really want my boyfriend to buy me flowers but he doesn’t buy me them”. When we meet up all she wants to talk about is the guy she’s dating and then will show me photos of them together and then come out with things like “my boyfriend is so attractive that women are all over him and he gets so much attention from attractive women I’m jealous”

One time I met up with her for drinks, and she told me that she had matched with this guy on an online dating site and this guy said that he had matched with a girl who had the same name as me and who lived in my area and then got all weird and said I shouldn’t date him because he was already dating this girl called Gemma and that I shouldn’t waste time with him. I had no idea who this guy was and I never matched with him on a dating site.

Other times when we’ve gone out together she will go on about how the guy at the bar keeps chatting her up and offered her a drink

It just feels really mundane and that there is no substance to the friendship. I just want to talk about things which are not boys but it feels like she’s just wanting to constantly tell me how men find her attractive and hit on her.

i get asked out a lot and a lot of male attention but I hate it and I never mention it to anyone as I’m happy being single and working on myself. I don’t feel the need to prove myself to others by telling my friends I get asked out a lot

Why is she constantly needing to tell me how many men find her attractive and hit on her?

There are girls who are simply "boy crazy" -- I remember my mom called them something very rude I won't repeat. But basically she only thinks about things in relation to her P... and getting D. So anything that doesn't relate to that isn't a primary topic for her. She considers that "girl talk" and you're most likely trying to start up a real conversation.

When someone is wrapped up in "girl talk" at that level, you need to understand the time and effort of her entire life centers around that one topic and the related actions needed to keep feeding the storyline. It's very draining from what I can tell.

You seem to be attracted to her energy, though, bc she's your opposite. While you're whining about her conversation being mundane, there's some part of you that wishes you were more excited about the guy thing.

I'm going to politely suggest that perhaps you're into girls? Hmm? (Not judging, but there's a reason you're around this vapid sexpot of a woman and there's a reason that all the guys who are allegedly paying attention to you are not interesting to you at all.
