What causes someone to be overly obsessed over someone they literally just met?

There was a guy working on our cameras at Dollar Tree where I work. Well, my friend, She thought he was so cute, and she kept making loud remarks about how cute she thought he was. She was acting extremely twitterpated, even saying stuff like she thinks he would look good in bed. And she said he can do whatever he wants to her.

I was embarrassed because I don't think it's appropriate to act like that in front of a guy. She was too shy to give him her number, so I ended up giving it to him for her. The only reason I gave it to him, was because I hoped it would help her calm down. (She is in an awkward situation with her boyfriend, they keep breaking up and getting back together, but she literally had sex with him last week.)

He messaged her, and ended up telling her that he had a girlfriend. But that he thought she was gorgeous. Which I think is kind of weird that he told her that if he has a girlfriend, but anyway. She told him that she thought he was so so handsome, after she knew he had a girlfriend. Well, then I was talking to her two days later after this happened, and she told me that she is so heartbroken that he has a girlfriend. Which is confusing to me because she only saw him for like 5 hours. So I don't understand how she's heartbroken over a boy she only saw for 5 hours and never met or even talked to in person. Then I saw she posted on her tik tok and said "the heartbreak of liking a guy with a girlfriend".

Why would someone be so obsessed with someone like that?

I’m sure she was just being facetious and not literally heartbroken but in any case I agree, that’s a lot for someone who both has a boyfriend and knows the guy has a girlfriend. I had a friend who was just like this, and one of my biggest issues was her being so male-centered. She didn’t seem to care who she screwed over or who she “stole” a guy from, as long as she got him. Something about your friend reminds me of her, and she’s probably not the best person to have around.

Yeah. Sadly, she brings him up now every time we talk. I saw her today and the first thing she said to me was about him. She also told me that her and that guy have been talking everyday and that he flirts with her and I asked her if his girlfriend knows they talk. And she said "maybe, maybe not" and I was thinking how could she just be ok with that knowing he has a girlfriend. I have a boyfriend and when she first saw him she seemed to think he was cute, and now I'm worried

She’s ruthless like that because she’s never experienced a good man. She’s probably been played before and therefore doesn’t care about this guy’s girlfriend, it’s really sad. My friend was the exact same way, and once I got to the point where I didn’t feel comfortable bringing my boyfriend around I knew the end of our friendship was coming. This is going to go badly for your friend because she will absolutely lose this guy how she got him. She’s seeing first hand how he interacts with other women behind his girlfriends back, let your friend know she isn’t above that same treatment and if she thinks she is then she’s naive. Like she can’t knowingly destroy someone’s relationship and then expect to have a good, healthy one. There’s no reward for that trifling shit.

If she was mature she would come to the conclusion that they were attracted to each other, but that's the extent of it.

Just because he has a girlfriend now doesn't mean that she even had any chance at all of becoming his next girlfriend. Period.

I know someone who was overly obsessed with guy and it lasted more than 10 years. It was women fighting each other about him while he had a whole girlfriend. The girl divorced her husband after having a child together. This particular guy had a girlfriend and ended marrying her. they been married for a while now as well. Then there was this other girl who swore up and down they were dating but knew about his now wife. I’m not sure what’s up with these kind of people
