+1 yI think 12 - 13 is a tad young. Usually still middle school.
14 - 17 - well I'm an outgoing girl, and it was kind of a fun emphasized thing to do at a school dance. You got like more rep or something for having guys dance with you and just getting into the whole scene.
And I went to a private school for a couple years - and the kids there grinded more than public school kids. Like I'm surprised we still have pelvises :P
Anyway -
Is it sexual? Yep.
Is it racy? Yep.
Am I going to expect my kids not to do it? No.
It's a fun way of dancing; I think what makes it so popular is that it's not so much the sexual aspect of it - it's the closeness aspect. Maybe your crush decides to dance with you for a song - that's pretty exciting in high school - or just having a guy approach you for that, as a lot of kids aren't even sure if they're attractive enough or what.
I don't know how many times I went to the bathroom to console a classmate because she was sad no guys wanted to dance with her.
I was 14 only 4 years ago - and there's just a fun factor in getting lost in the music with someone like that.
Hell - even if it's not grinding.51 Reply- +1 y

Yes, I agree. I would kill my little sister if I caught her grinding. And she's 12.
But if she does it-how will I ever know? She could blatantly lie to my face and put on the pretend halo. Honestly, I think that's something that adults should only do. I tried grinding once; it was weird.
Yeah. Each time I did, I would always feel weird. Maybe because I'm innocent minded and stuff. Anyway, I love to party and would rather dance with a group of friends than have a horny, sweaty guy rub against my junk. You never been to a party?
Boy, you don't know what you're missing.
Actually surprised though. Not because of the "never been to a party thing" but the fact that you feel that way about grinding. Most of the guys I know would not hesitate when it comes to that stuff.41 Reply
+1 yI see no problem with it, it's innocent fun. I wasn't doing it when I was 12, but hey, my hormones had to kick in eventually! Certainly by the time I was 15 that was a kind of dancing I found fun. I think a big reason why I found it so exciting was that I didn't go out to dances/parties that often, so when I did I just went crazy.

You deserve a thumbs up. I agree. It's harmless fun. Hormones lead to sex. Not grinding.
- +1 y
Thanks. I was honestly very surprised that so many people disagreed with me.
12-14 is just a little weird...but as you are turning 14-15 that's when you are going into high school and where all the dances, hormones, girls, etc come into play. I went to most of the dances in high school, never a party until second year of college, and people regardless of age were grinding. I did it once in high school during senior prom with my girlfriend of a year, didn't do that again until a year or two into college. I think at that age it just happens.
Do I think it is wrong? Not necessarily, around that age you are supposed to have fun, and believe me it is fun. Does it lead to bad stuff? Well...yea sometimes. Most people don't know what they're getting into at that age and end up getting hurt a lot of times. But that's life, you make mistakes and you learn.00 Reply
+1 yI was having sex at 13 so how could possibly deny kids the fun of some good ol' fashion grinding. It's harmless. And no one go telling me it's the gateway to sex because that's bullsh*t. Hormones are the gateway to sex.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI believe 12-13 is too young, you're still in middle school. 14-17 Is when hormones start to kick in so it's expected. But I guess once you're 18 and older it doesn't really matter. It doesn't always lead to trouble, though it all depends on the person. I've been to a couple clubs and several parties and the only time it went further was if both of them were intoxicated. I've never really seen it go much further than grinding if the guy and girl were sober.
I don't really see I problem with it, unless they're in middle school.10 ReplyIt's disgusting. Ha. They are still kids. This is one of the reasons we have so many teen pregnancies. That and the media has made it more acceptable that it should be. I seriously would smack the sh*t out of my kids if I saw them grinding while they were minors.

How do you get pregnant from "grinding"?
- +1 y
Wow. Your a little smartass. I obviously don't think you are going to get pregnant FROM grinding. But grinding is more of a sexual act then young ones should display. Hell, even adults grinding is disgusting and taboo, like making out and groping in public. Grinding is going to because the young and hormonal teenagers to become even more horny, the boy will most likely achieve a boner from the contact as well. The fact that people allow children to dance like that and behave in a risque manner at
- +1 y
a young age is desensitizing them to the sexual world and allowing them to behave that way in public also makes them think it is socially acceptable and makes them more willing to have sex. Young kids having sex aren't fully aware of the consequences. They have the "invincible" complex and believe that "that would never happen" to them and the chances of getting pregnant are so slim that they don't use condoms, or if they do, they don't know how to really put them on.
- +1 y
I really don't think that teenagers are going to stop having sex because they can't grind at a school dance.
- +1 y
Maybe by a little bit. But teenagers are still going to have raging hormones regardless. I think the best thing to do is teach safe sex rather than blind them from it.
- +1 y
Not allowing them to risque things in public hardly blinds them from sex. It's teaching class and self respect. Grinding with lots of friends at a young age is also a quick way to get a nasty nickname if your a girl. It's all about having class. The most affection and intimate thing I will do with my man when people can see is long hugs, quick kisses, and holding hands. Making out, groping, grinding, thrusting, nibbling, licking, etc. are things that need more privacy.
- +1 y
Yeah, but that doesn't mean they are going to stop "having sex". But I guess I am more provocative & open about my sexuality. I don't have a problem with PDA.
- +1 y
I was being nice to you? I assume you can't agree to disagree. Shows how much class YOU have.
- +1 y
Saying "Or that you just have less class. I'm done trying to reason with you. Ha." is rude & makes you come off as a stuck-up bitch. & very unclassy since you brag so much about class.
- +1 y
Alrightio. I just though that opening sexual PDA, and class.. don't really go together. And since you said you like PDA and are more openly sexual then I thought you were lacking the class. (I am plenty openly sexual when I am not in front of other people) Sorry again that you thought I was being rude. I was making an observation. Like.. Megan Fox, openly sexual- not classy.. vs. Audrey Hepburn, classy. Does that put it in better perspective?
- +1 y
I understand all of that, but I didn't say anything about class. I actually think that the term "classy" is very far-fetched & the vast majority of women don't truly have it, so I never use that term except as an occasional compliment. Sorry for the confusion.
+1 y12 isn't teenager and I'm 17 so I'm a young teen? :( I always thought young teen was 13-16. :( But I don't condone grinding, I've never been to a party either and at the school dances with the big grinding hump fest in the middle of the dance floor I stayed away except when I had to fight my way through the smelly tangle of people to get to a secluded area *Shiver.*
But seriously 17 *young* teen?49 Reply- +1 y
Nah 17 isn't a young teen. I think by young teens he just meant people who aren't legally an adult.
- +1 y
I hope not, I hate being 17 and being thought of as a young teen by a 18 year old makes me ill lol.
- +1 y
You don't condone grinding? Wasn't expecting that one.
- +1 y
LOL why?
- +1 y
Lollll hell no. I don't like dancing especially not around people but I've loosened up a bit so dancing in front of people isn't that big of a deal but grinding I've never been into.
- +1 y
:) 11 and 12 is pre teen lol.
+1 yi did it most teens do it. its gonna happen lol the music kids dance to isn't exactly conducive to doing the fox trot you know. it can lead to more but not always. if you are going to have sex you don't need to dance that way to do it. kids who don't grind also have sex

+1 yThat's the only way I dance lol & I'm horrible at dancing. I don't really know how young is too young. I've seen 3 year olds popping their booties & grinding on each other (lol not that I condone that). We just live in a very sexual society.

'it's the only way I dance" ugh! XD
- +1 y
I don't dance unless I'm dancing with a guy or super drunk or something.
1K opinions shared on Girl's Behavior topic. they can do what they want. I loved going to dances in middle school, and at times would booty dance with a guy behind me, but no I didn't have sex with him afterward and guess what the teachers and parents telling us not to do it made us do it more!
20 Reply16+ Teens are horny.. As long as they aren't having sex who cares..Almost all of us had some form of sexual release when we were younger.. I can guarantee most of us wern't having sex yet! Is french kissing among pre teens offensive to you?

+1 yThis reminds me of something my friend said at Jr. Prom, "Oh, so I can't invite my boyfriend to my prom, but the straight couples can be out there basically having sex?! -storms off-"
Its bad, imo.32 Reply- +1 y
I don't know why, but they would not allow him to invite his boyfriend, so he was mad all night. That was just one of his many rants.
+1 yIt makes me feel dirty to watch anyone grind in general...

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yHonestly? I'm 17 and love to grind. Its better than full out sex and I don't see that much of a problem with it. Guys and Girls both love it. Our prom was a grind fest and it was a blast

00 ReplyToo young, IMO. Ours is assuredly the most sex-obsessed culture in the world.
20 ReplyIt's disgusting..doesn't matter what age

You think grinding is disgusting? What are you going to do when you boyfriend asks for a blowjob? or even worse... dum dum dum... anal! Grinding is an actual dance and it's harmless.
- +1 y
InquisitiveMale.. seriously? It's called "A lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets". I don't grind and act like a slut in public, and in the privacy of our home, my boyfriend and I love getting down and dirty. Gave him a bj last night. Just because we don't get disgusting in front of people doesn't mean we aren't going to be intimate with our parteners.. idiot.
- +1 y
I assume you never go to nightclubs?
16 and above, younger and it's a problem.
