When she gives a half smile, what does it mean?

What does it mean when you notice a girl looking at you and make eye contact with her and she gives a half smile, and you break eye contact and look back a few seconds later and she is still looking but not smiling. Is that a sure sign she is attracted?

I usually gave a half of a smile either when I really like a guy but know that he does not like me in that way and their is no use in trying to get him to like me. The other reason is if I really like a guy and do not want him to know that I really like him so I try to suppress my smile hoping that he will not find out or notice. It can also mean that she is having mischievous thoughts about you and again does not want you to notice her smile.

I do that when I want to appear welcoming but cos I'm not used to smiling at random people I just do a half smile instead. It may be a cue to start a conversation with her.

Although i wish you guys wouldn't break eye contact or instantly look away when we catch you staring, because it just confuses us further, hence why she no longer had the side smile when you looked back. do y'all do that because y'all don't want us to know you find us attractive?
