Hey people, so as you see in the topic name I'll talk about this situation in this mytake and I'll try to give you informations about that since I am the only active Turkish user on here and I think its my duty to inform all of you people about that. I don't care if any of you don't want to read it or not interested about this situation,today I'll talk about real things and it may offend some people.Just know that I am not after something like that,this situation bothers me a lot as a Turkish citizen and its my duty to inform people in here.I know there are plenty of people who can't really make sense about these questions like I do.The diffrence between them and I is, I know why its like that since I am living in this country, and it has a lot of reasons.
Since I will talk about these reasons and give you informations about them, I'll also give you little information about Turkish history cause things I am gonna talk about are connected to each other.So let me begin then.
So Many Turkish ?
So why there are so many Turkish on this site ? I heard this question almost from everyone and let me answer you.Why ? Because there is another version of this site called ''Kizlarsoruyor.com'' as you may know this site is originally Turkish,and founded by Turkish guy named Tolga Tanriseven. So there are advertisements about English version of this site ( G@G I mean ) and thats how most of Turkish people find out about G@G and decide to register on here. I also found G@G like that and I don't join the Turkish version since I found here,because I want to improve my English.So anyway this is the real reason.
HISTORY
So yeah,history.. for me its one of the biggest reason.
Word ''Turk'' means someone strong and warrior,Chineese called us like that when our ancestors were living in Central Asia and fighting against Chineese Empire.Our ancestors were always after conquering lands,making vassals and growing their Empire.Thats why our ancestors established like 16 Empires in history and last of them is ''Republic of Turkey'' today,which I decide to say ''Turkiye'' instead of Turkey lol ( I'll talk about it later ).Our ancestors which are Huns fought against China for centruies then they decided to migrate Europe under rule of Attila,and they continued their conquests at Europe that time.As you may know Attila was a ruthless leader who didn't leave any of citizens alive from cities he conquered and destroyed a lot of countries in Europe.He also became nightmare of East and West Roman Empires, the Empires which were biggest representers of Europe.After Attila died,a lot of Turkic migrations began to Europe from Asia and they especially settled in Anatolia also Hungary and Balkans.So Europeans were uncomfortable cause of this situation and they wanted to kick Turkics from their lands,but they couldn't do that much.Today there are still Turkic people living all around Balkans and especially in Hungary but they are assimilated. That was the first event when Turkic people met with Europeans,but it wasn't that good meeting,because Huns harmed their people,looted their cities and destroyed them.From that day on Europeans never liked anything from East and they began to hate toward Turkics and Mongols.
After Huns now there was another Empire called ''Ottoman Empire'' who also migrated from Central Asia and settled in Anatolia,conquered Eastern Roman Empire and ruled Eastern Europe for like 500 years they even fought against countries they never conquered ( Like Italy,Poland,Spain,France,Germany etc ) we can say Ottomans fought against all of Europe.Ottomans didn't harm Europeans as Huns did but they conquered Europeans lands to make them Muslim and assimilate them,convert them to Turkish.Ottomans were bigger threat than Huns because they lived like 700 years and they ruled many countries for centruies.They fought against Habsburg Empire and Spanish Empire which were representers of Europe during that time ( Todays EU ) and put them in serious bad situations.
From that day on Turkophobia & Islamophobia started in Europe,christian generals,the popes always encouraged their soldiers with saying ''Fight against Turkish infidels,kick them out of Europe'' and things like that.Europeans never liked Easterns cause of Mongol and Turkic invasions and they hated from East and Islam cause of Ottoman Empire.Ottomans were biggest representers of Islam in history,they were ruling all of Muslim countries and they were the caliphate. Today Turkiye is still most powerful Muslim country on earth and some European countries see us like we will establish Ottoman Empire again one day and rule all of Muslims like we did, and mess with Europe like we used to so thats why today some European countries provoke & support Kurds to declare their independence and weaken us.We all know Eastern and Western civilazations don't like each other that much,ofcourse I don't count all of people in it but yeah that is the truth.
When Ottoman Empire was about to get destroyed on 1919 almost all of European countries ( which were strong that time ) came to our lands and wanted to invade.However it didn't happen cause of founder of Turkish Republic, ''Mustafa Kemal Ataturk''.
So all of these informations I wrote here are taught to new generations in our schools,they always teach students that ''We almost fought against all of the world in our history and we are not that liked nation'' cause of what our ancestors did.Almost every citizen in this country know that we are not liked nation ( like I do ) and its about history.Most of Turkish citizens don't really care what do others think about our country and I don't care it either, thats why I never asked questions like that but they are mostly new generation who are between 18-24.Who don't know much about history and can't understand the real reason why we are not liked country.So thats why they always ask these questions.We even have a proverb here in Turkiye and it says ''Turk has no any other friend than a Turk'' so it clearly shows we are a lone wolf nation around the world. Even Arabs ( the people we share same religion ) betrayed us when they were our people and living under our rule,so they helped Allied Powers to declare their independence.
So yeah we are not liked cause of our history and our ancestors aggressive behaviour against West.We always fought against West.. like ''always'' for centruies lol. And its one of the biggest reason these questions are being asked every week,so thats why you always see questions like ''What do you think about Turkey and Turkish people ?'' because we are not liked,thats the truth.I like my history but I can't deny my history is bloody.
WHY I DON'T SAY TURKEY ?
Well, lol thats because Turkey means ''bird'' in your language,if you read the first paragraph you will understand word ''Turk'' hasn't got anything to do with a bird and it annoys me so much.It even annoys me a lot when people say ''Why did you get bird's name ?'' we didn't get Bird's name,we were already known as ''Turkey'' centruies ago,these were Europeans and Immigrants who settled in America named a bird Turkey.Why do you think so ? Because they thought that bird came from our lands to America,they thought some immigrants bringt them with him so they didn't know its original name and they decided to call it Turkey. So thats why I always say Turkiye, and I'll always say it until they change that bird's name and find something makes more sense, lol.
RELIGION
So yeah its about religion,its a diffrent culture and as I said when making explanations about history, everyone fought for spread their religion so both sides naturally became each of their enemies.First Crusaders attacked Jerusalem like 8 times,then Ottomans moved in Europe and at last it ended with Allied Powers making most of Muslim countries their vassals ( Pakistan,Arabs,North Africans ) they were about to make us aswell but we are the only Muslim country who never became anyones vassal state.Turkiye is also the strongest Muslim country on earth and have potential to rule Muslim world again if makes right decisions and stay as strong country.That is what our President Erdogan aims today. We also know how bad people represent Islam today,a lot of terrorist groups killing innocent people around the world, and they do it without making any distinction.They also kill Muslim citizens,but nobody cares on earth.. why ? Cause they say ''Allahu Akbar'' and people think that one word makes enough for them to represent Islam and Muslim people.Turkiye is a Muslim country,I mean %98 of the population is Muslim but its a ''Secular'' country,there is no Sheria in Turkiye.People can get alcohol if they want,or they can have sex without marriage they can wear however they want,mini skirts,hijabs,bikinis or normall dress. Anyways so this is the other reason why people ask questions so much about Turkiye on this site,because like I said most of our citizens are Muslim,Turkiye is still biggest representer of Islam and we know Muslims aren't that liked on earth.
PRESIDENT ERDOGAN
Maybe there are still some people around here who didn't hear about Erdogan,but I don't think so since nobody likes him and names him as ''dictator'' at West. Well yeah I don't support Erdogan, I don't vote for him because I don't like his ideology and I know most of people around the world ( except hardcore muslims ) don't like him aswell.Because he is known about his oppressive regime ( like silencing journalists,silencing people who speak bad about him etc ) and some people also believe he wants to bring ''Sheria'' back to Turkiye which we left it on 1923 with lead of Ataturk.And I also heard some Europeans believe Erdogan wants to bring back the Ottoman Empire :D He is not also liked cause of his aggressive attidue against EU.So most of people around the world stopped visiting Turkiye for like 3 years cause of hating Erdogan and we know it.So that is other reason why these questions are being asked.Erdogan's attidue toward Western world made Turkiye less sympathic.
TURKISH GANGSTERS AROUND Europe
With migration from Turkiye to Europe between 1960-70s a lot of Turkish gangsters and Mafias came up and had their own streets,ghettos.There are especially a lot of Turkish gangsters in Germany,France,Netherlands and some parts of England.They do things like any other gangs do like Blacks and Hispanics etc. and its not a good thing.Its a bad represantation for the country and I sometimes justify Europeans cause of this reason.Nobody wants people in their country who disrupts systems and disobey rules,Today Turks are known about their Mafias & Gangsters around Europe,also some Turkish people don't know about Europeans traditions and cultures so they live like that in their countries.So that is one of the reasons why these questions are asked.
There are still more things to talk about but its not necessary to write all of them down here since these are the biggest reasons and important ones.I thought a lot before writing all of these,I found it unnecessary to write all of them down here but like I said before,I am here like 2 or 3 months and these stupid questions annoying me so much and I don't want ''you'' people to have wrong infos from somewhere else.Just know that nobody in Turkiye really cares what do others think about our country,these are stupid and curious young generation who can't even speak English.I hope you people will show more tolerance from this day on about these questions.
