The previous version allowed five draft questions and five draft myTakes.
It seems to only allow one at a time now... what am I missing? ... or is this correct?
I also miss the shading on the replies received page to make it easy to see which are the new ones.
I'm sure I'll get use to it but my opinion is its actually made it less user friendly. Having to click to add extra details on a question is annoying and not user friendly. The new UI looks incredibly dated, I feel like I'm on some 2010 forum.
Things that still bother me:
1. No dark mode. It's 2024 every website has dark mode.
2. Half the time I can't just scroll my feed and answer questions on the feed, I have to actually open the question.
3. The automatic undoing of abbreviations is annoying and sometimes wrong. If someone doesn't know what an abbreviation means they can ask or look it up.
4. Being able to edit opinions. No brainer.
5. Questions should be able to have as many updates as needed. A collapsible system for that would be ideal, perhaps with a heading and body.
I just logged in after being away for a bit, I will say I enjoy it. It feels much more streamlined and simple. I find that getting to things are now much easier on mobile devices, which I’m quite happy about.
One suggestion I have for the GAG team though would be to give us a toggle if we want AI comments to participate in our questions. Personally, I find that real users AKA real peoples opinions are genuinely more helpful than a soulless computer with a script like answer.
That's just my initial thoughts though, I do LIKE most of what this update has to offer though. I’ve read that some users are disappointed that the gender colours are gone though. Maybe you can keep the banner coloring around the profile picture, but also reinstate the pink/blue username colours as well?
I'm happy to provide more feedback as I use the features more, but so far I like it. :)
So far, I notice you STILL haven't fixed the response posting under some questions.
I'll answer a question and then up pops a page with loads of questions. If I spot one I feel like responding to, I'll do so but, when I hit the Send button, nothing happens! If I want that response to be posted, I'll have to highlight it, copy it, click on the actually question, which opens up a page with just that question, then I can paste my answer in there, click Send and it actually posts!
WHY does it STILL not post on the original question?
The new logo itself is not ugly. But getting rid of gender colors is a major downgrade.
I get that gender has been a hot topic in society for some time now. But your platform is literally called "girls" ask "guys". You should remain faithful to the brand
They may honestly change it altogether. We could’ve been lab rats for the site and the real users will come later lol “ “
Haha true.
But the site has been around for many years now. So it's too late to claim this is a trial phase...
Design wise it looks more modern, but function wise I find it more annoying to navigate. I always sort by the Questions feed so I see what questions are recently posted , there is a ton of space for more buttons in the bar so moving the question feed to its own button should be doable.
I also miss the bar where people I follow show up with their recent stuff on that page, its still on the discover page but I don't like the discover page. So having that one on the questions page would be welcome to.
"Asking Question is getting faster!"
Actually it's slower now, when selecting a topic for the question, the UI for the topic window bugs out, and it takes forever to click on one if its not near the bottom of the list, because it force scrolls down when you try scrolling up.
"Pages that are not used very frequently will no longer be included under the profile menu and the ones you use more frequently will come to the forefront."
Never do this, it creates tunnel vision on websites and hides new content that may be of interest to people who have not seen it before.
Aside from those issues, you really should delete the AIs and add in a dark mode.
When I am typing, I like to navigate the notifications with my left thumb rather than go to the right. And the color scheme feels less pleasant on my eyes and also less full of life.
It's definitely serviceable though and I do see some pluses that mesh well with mobile users such as myself. But I would really prefer to not see people who have blocked me or who I have blocked at all. I constantly have to test questions by liking them before even commenting to see if I was blocked or not.
Just a lot of nothing! Format is ugly, not at all easier than before. Why not spend your time actually finding a way to really fix the site. Get back to times where there were very few trolls, anonymous was seldom used and points actually meant something. Remember when points earned things like Amazon Gift Cards, GaG T shirts, and other ideas. Much better than paying your geek squad to irritate us and the group developing it AIs put them back on unemployment.
Still woudl've preferred to see a more modern and mature name change such as Women Ask Guys, or Women Ask Men or even Men Ask Women or even further Ladies Ask Men. Lol.
Mmmm I was serious though with the way "girls" sounds immature where as "guys" is still meaning a man and an adult man at that ♂️
I also wish GAG was 18 only.
There I've said it all please and politely ♂️ ♀️
@GirlsAskGuys I guess it'll never be Women Ask Guys or Women Ask Men and regardless, GAG still isn't 18+ restricted. It'll be a sad day if the site or the app ever loses the sexuality category (it's basically sex questions) or dating category or flirting category I'd be so sad 😢😭
Girl and boy are not age related terms, adult women are still girls and adult men are stilll boys.
This is why when adults date they use the terms "girlfriend" or "boyfriend" before becoming enganged and switching to fiance for both, and then wife and husband after marrying.
Guy is just a synonym for boy.
People have asked for specific things over the years and we never see it. I have asked for an enhanced search function and putting the date asked on a question or opinion.
These changes have made it less intuitive to use.
I absolutely love it! It's nice to see you took my advice on some things I wanted done. Don't pay any attention to these naysayers, they just don't think "outside the box" like we do. I'll definitely message you a few more suggestions! Keep up the good work! 👍
The changes are superficial at best.
The search function is still virtually worthless. I wish I could search:
It's also degrading to reduce some people's questions to be so trivial as to be answered by an AI bot. Why isn't there an opt-in switch similar to anonymous and just guys or girls for computer generated answers?
I think a makeover was needed after all these years.
The logo looks cool than before.
Most importantly the issue where many users weren't able to access their gallery from the app is fixed now. A big thumbs up for that. 👍
I find the new update easy and better than how gag was operating earlier.
But please get rid of the AIs. They're not adding anything.
The feedback is it's awful simple as that. Especially removing color from the names. Get rid of this box design. Bring back downvotes.
The only update I ask and really still want as a new thing is for when a person blocks you, you automatically block them. Or at least on option to be the case.
Or something, anything to solve an annoying issue of making an opinion on a question writing it all out for then to say 'sorry can't post user has you blocked.' just makes one waste time.
Some say change is good & others don’t like change & as for me I’m slowly getting used to the new format & so far I like it. As for future updates hopefully there are new topics & hopefully you bring back the April fools OUTER SPACE topic because I really miss it.
You made it worse and more difficult to use. Furthermore, you have NOT made a single change that numerous people have recommended.
I don't like giving bad feedback, but if I had the choice to revert back to what worked well for me before? I would jump at the chance!
I love how whenever almost any website gets a needless UI update, the most positive comment is: "it's fine", while 80% of users are tearing the devs a new one.
Oh well, let's see if this update outlives the emoji one.
Lmao so accurate
I like most of the changes this time. The only complaint is the colour scheme for read and unread notifications. It's hard to distinguish between the two. A little more contrasting shades would've helped.
