Hi GAGers,

We have a new changes that will be coming to GAG soon.

MyTake creation will become an exclusive perk for our GAG Influencers.

What is a GAG Influencer?

Influencers' posts are marked with a purple Influencer badge next to their username. Influencers are members of our community who have a high MHO%, ask engaging questions, and have high overall interaction in certain topics on the site. These members have been identified as helpful, knowledgeable, or simply post interesting content about specific topics.

The good thing is, even if you are not an Influencer now, you can become one in the future by consistently posting good content with grammatically correct titles and clear pictures and being in good standing with the community.

As long as you have an Influencer badge, you will be able to post a MyTake in any topic.

Would this be Influencers in general or would they only be able to submit MyTakes in the categories in which they are Influencers?

For example, I'm an Influencer in G@G Community. Would I not be able to submit one in Religion and Spirituality, Relationships, or Education and Career? If not, then please make it easier to become an Influencer in these other topics. I have MyTakes planned for all three of those, where I'm more acitve than G@G Community. That or just do away with the category-specific influencer badges altogether.

What are the exact, measurable criteria to become a GAG Influencer?

Quality control is good. Exclusivity without transparency is not

I’m sorry. I usually agree with you guys, and I don’t care that much because I’ve never created a myTake, but this is a terrible idea. MyTakes are a way for the voices in our community to express themselves, and while some of those voices are annoying, a lot are pretty good.

While I can actually understand this, I fear it will lead to an increase in leading or non-question questions, meaning questions that don't actually want answers but just express an opinion.
You can already see it in polls where the options often aren't real answers.

How do I be an influencer then? I've lived my entirety of teenage on this site and throughout years I have posted more than 100 mytakes through various accounts and as a writer it was my favourite part of this platform. Why do this? Why remove my core memory? Why exactly limit it to influencers?

Well, I joined this site as a 13 year old and I'm afraid I'll leave as an 18 year old. I so badly wanted to start a mytake series about my college hunt and my high school experience and I made few google documents because mytakes are a serious business for me. I'm not doing this in YouTube or any other social platform because of the nice little community I have here with good adults mentoring me and all.

This is so biased. Saying that one can become influencer in future is so shallow because so many users have been on here for years and they didn't become one, how do you expect me to become one soon? I can't afford to be chronically online to have 500 followers I don't relate with. I don't want to be popular on here. I am on good terms with few people and only seek their opinion when posting a mytake, not everyone on here wants to have a big audience. For that they go to instagram and facebook. GaG is a cozy space and bringing the concept of influencer having the choice to speak out is disgusting.

This! And not only can we not write MyTakes anymore, they're also removing our existing MyTakes. GAG is killing how accessible they are in the name of creating more engagement. It's ridiculous.

High MHO% is impossible if you want to be active


The fact is you can’t guarantee to be picked for MHO very often


And losing the ability to post something just because others didn’t vote for your answer elsewhere seems hardly fair


This has always been a community centric platform.
I don’t see the added value of imposing internal rules for no real reason


If the goal is cleaner MyTakes you could impose a grammar standard and structure and take down the MyTakes that look short and spamy

The mho system is actually great for this exact reason. I've been on this site for a very long time so I get away with lazy posts more than I probably should. (I'll work on that)

But I got my mho up by asking myself:
What am I adding to this conversation?
How might the asker react to what I'm saying?
Are they going to pick mho or is the system going to do it?
What does the system reward and punish?

I do think this update is a bit harsh but I understand the logic behind it

My current title on GaG is an Influencer and I'm against this. Everyone should have a voice and the potential to get as many eyeballs as others. MyTakes aren't posted often anyways and I doubt it will change much after the update.

I think other changes should be a higher priority. Like removing AI from an app that should be entirely organic. Or maybe allowing us to edit posts and comments (but show previous versions, so people can't just change what they say on a whim). Maybe make a dark mode. Maybe give the option for users to add a voice note if they're comfortable to do so.

This is a terrible idea and again one not a single person asked for.

It will reduce community interaction. It runs the risk of bias and favoritism, creating an echo chamber among other things.

Not to mention that half the time stuff like MHOs are just chosen at random by the site and not by the actual person who posted the question. Like how a day or two ago I got basically 60 something MHOs out of the blue from the AI some that were for questions so old I had forgotten I had even posted on them.

Everyone should have a voice and be able to do them it shouldn't be something restricted to a small approved minority. That never has been and never will be a good idea. Even if I do achieve influencer rank by accident or something I'm still not gonna post mytakes just out of principle because this is a stupid idea.

One of the best things about my take is out of the blue something happen to some one and in that moment they vent

And just about every one of them are good with insight.
Clarity hurt and pain and wisdom... why would you want to take that away from any.

That might not have that title or badge.

So basically it is switching to only allow mytakes that promote a liberal, anti-White, anti-male, anti-Christian agenda or are neutral. Just like when opinions are removed, even when they have links to evidence supporting a statement if it exposes liberal lies.

This will reduce interaction by many users, which goes against GaG's business model.
