Guys always try to "protect me"?

So I was once sexually assaulted. It was no big deal, the guy was caught while it was happening. I'm totally fine now. But ever since them all my guy friends try to protect me.
They always try to walk me home places. or if I'm just out and about and a guy looks at me they jump to let's get between them mode. I was talking to a guy from my class and my friend came up and was like "hey Katherine, is this guy bothering you". I was fine, I don't even think I made a weird uncomfortable motion.
They say I'm too nice/shy, and that because I'm short guys will try to take advantage of me, but I think in fine. I'm definitely not the strongest, but I definitely don't believe I'm a walking target. Anyways guys are you like this with your friends or am I over reacting?

I have been in the same situation you have except I wasn't so lucky for him to get caught and it was my shiftleader at my old job. I had to wait and I didn't want to go to work. so finally I told them I quit. and his wife was assistant manager. I finally told them what happened and they caught him in a lie and he was fired. come to find out his wife was a cheater and so was he. but I wasn't lucky like you to have people protecting me. it would get somewhat annoying so you just need to tell just to tone it down a bit. hope this helped :-)

Guys naturally want to protect someone they feel needs their protection. Was this recent? Maybe they think you are still scared because of the situation and they want to lend a helping hand.

Hmmm i would say that would get annoying with all these guys trying to show their macho ability. At some point they should let you live your life.
