Should a man let a girl walk home alone at night after drinking?

Despite how frustrating a girl gets, should the guy put it behind himself to get a girl home safe especially if he is hooking up with her?

Well, it's up to her. It's illegal to force her to do something she doesn't want. If she doesn't want you walking her home, it's stalking to go with her anyway. If she doesn't want to wait for a cab, it's unlawful restraint if you keep her there. If she doesn't want to get in your car, it's kidnapping to make her do so. If she wants to go, the only legal thing to do is let her go. Talk about being damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The moral thing would be to try and convince her to wait to get a cab. In the end, though, if you're incapable of making good decisions when you're drunk, you shouldn't drink, period.

No. A man should never let a woman walk home alone bc anything could happen after leaving his side. In my opinion if something happened I would not want that on my conscience if I was a guy let a alone a gentleman. If the girl and guy are mad at each other he could / she could call a cab to make sure she arrives home alive she might be angry bt at least she will be alive.

Well, I personally hate walking home alone at night.
If someone (Male OR female) were to walk me home I'd rather them stay the night with me or have someone pick them up at my house or something because I'd freak out if they had to walk in the dark alone.

It definitely would have been the nicer thing to do and I can't really imagine my dude making me walk home even if I was being a bitch. However, It's your responsibility to keep yourself safe. If you can't afford a cab you can't afford to go out. That's part of the cost.

I don't know man, I hate certain types of people as well, but at the same time I know 99% of the reason why people act like assholes is because they're hurting inside for some reason or another. Just sucks to realize that and watch those lost causes spiral into destruction for themselves and others.

I think that's precisely because we walk the women home and then walk home by ourselves, which kind of dovetails with your position if you think about it. But tell me, how much personal risk is it incumbent on me to accept for the sake of some drunk chick who ended up at my place?

But from what I know, I would think that those violent crimes are not of the sort that one would fall victim to by walking home alone. After all, why attack the strong man when you could attack the more defenseless seeming woman? If the higher risk of being attacked were due to that, then men and women would suffer equally. I think the risk of violent crime to men is more about men being more prone to be in situations where violence more easily happens. Though really, I can't make a judgement without some sort of actual statistics on the matter.

@cipher42 Yeah, they're more prone to being alone on the streets at night after they walked their girl home than the other way around. For stats, you can look up the NCVS. Note how they include survey data on domestic violence which excludes all male victims. (i've personally witnessed my mom assault my dad with a baseball bat, so i know there's been at least one) and still most victims of violent crime are male. They also survey only the non-institutionalized population, thereby excluding the most victimized (and most predominantly male) demographic, prisoners.

The guy does not understand that when I want him to pick me up after drinking it means I want to stay awake and fool around. He does not drink. He got frustrated with me being intoxicated (when he knew what he was getting into) and let me walk right out his door to walk home. He did not even try to take me home or text me to make sure that I was safe.
