Why does my crush suddenly pulls out his phone, and pretend to be on his phone whenever he sees me?

So it's this popular kid at school, I noticed he always stares at me, it's been going on for 5 months. So I sorta felt weird and nervous all of a sudden, and I caught feelings. Usually when he sees me, he would constantly lock eyes with me. One week I was with my friend going to pass by my crush, as soon as we got near, she pushed me and I also bumped into him but I kept my balanced. A whole scene happened.
Now when he sees me, he pulls out his phone and looks down at it.. Whenever he sees me, "anywhere" during school.

maybe explain the most important part. Did you somehow grab his balls when you got pushed into him? Did you smack him in the face, did you get all nervous and shy?

Pulling out your phone = avoidance. either shy because he likes you, or you made it that insanely awkward.

Trying to play kool, by trying to act like people are always hitting him up. Or he is trying not to lock eyes because he isn't into you. In my opinion those are the two possible options with the little imformation you gave.

This boy is someone who's known around school, I wasn't attracted to him way before because I thought he was ignorant so I didn't really pay attention to him. But the first time I noticed him is when I was walking to class, and at first I didn't really pay attention to him staring at me constantly because I thought it was nothing, but it became daily and constant. I started to notice him because I'm was thinking "who is this boy that continually keeps staring at me". For instance, I was walking with the same friend, and he was with his one of his friends , as I looked down From laughing and suddenly picked my head up, I saw him staring and we locked eyes. Everywhere I would go this boy would end up being in my known where abouts.

Like once I usually cut through a hallway to take a short cut to my class, his friend usually stands in that hallway to wait for his classroom door to open, and the boy class would be far away. So I would walk in the hallway, and him and his friend would just stare at me. There is a lot of stuff that happened. But I caught feelings I don't know if it's bcause he always looks at me and it has been going on for awhile. My instincts says he's interested, but I'm not so sure, so I would want to know the signs.
