Guys, why does my crush act so weird around me?

I really like my crush. He stares at me and makes sure that I'm in his view by fast cing me in the hallways. His friends & him look in my direction sometimes. In class, he stares at me, but less than in the hallways and pretends he was looking at something else. He usually does a blank stare like he's looking into my soul and doesn't smile. Whenever close around him, he only talks to his guy friends or doesn't talk to anyone when he's right next to me which is odd. Sometimes he follows me around school in the mornings, and makes a point by passing right next to me in the hallways. He has a girl best friend but he never talks to her when I'm around except in class. We were once assigned groups of three in a class and we're together. His knees were shaking, and he tried to act normal, but I saw that he was nervous, but he never looked or spoke directly towards me. In fact he never approached me yet this school year to talk to me or even just say hi. He never smiles at me. My friends say that he's really awkward but i don't know. Does he hate me or is he just plotting to kill me? I never did anything to make him hate me like insult him or something.
