What does a guy mean when he says call me anytime?

Do you guys actually mean it when you tell a girl to call anytime? He called me and at the end of the call he said I could. Is that just out of being polite?

It means that he likes you and is willing to drop anything and everything to take your call/talk to you. This is a good sign.

Because you are more complex and keep expecting the complexity to be there.
You know the phrase "read between the lines"?
Women communicate like that all the time and it perplexes us for the most part - especially when we are young. Think of all the times you communicated nonverbally and guys just don't get it. That's you "writing between the lines" and us not reading it because we're not expecting it. We think "The writing is in the lines; between the lines is white space." And then you expect us to communicate similarly... you are looking between the lines for communication written in invisible ink, but, really, there's nothing there but white space and this perplexes you because you are expecting it so since you do it. This is why there are so many questions here like "Guy did X. What does that mean?" What it means is that Guy did X. That's it.

Ok. He randomly started mentioning how he reacts in certain romantic situations. I was upset about something.. and he was relating by mentioning it. See that seemed so vague to me. He knows I'm attracted to him I told him long ago and he rejected me bc he was not ready for a relationship due to a bad breakup. Why mention romantic stuff then? Wouldn't that be leading me on? See? That seems complex to me. All of a sudden he is opening up after being distant and I can't figure it out

Do you understand the general theory of relativity? Of course not, yet it is vital to the operation of the entire GPS. You don't ponder how GPS works or about the theory of general relativity, yet you use GPS services all the time, right? You get along fine in your life without having to figure out how it works or what's going on in the GPS system, don't you?

Well, don't try to figure this guy out either. Just let whatever is happening happen. Things are always transient. If you were an extraterrestrial and came to Earth and the only people you met were babies, you'd be confused, but, even if you did figure babies out, you'd still be confused because babies grow up and become kids then adults... My point with this is that this guy is evolving. Let him evolve, then try and figure him out. Relax and smoke a joint or something.
