How many times can someone cancel on you for you to lose interest and just move on?

How many times can a guy or girl be stood up before they decide to move on/lose interest in someone they like? Or someone they are/starting a relationship with?

Example:(This is what make me wonder about my question)

My friend is most of the time telling me his girl stood him up!

She has a crazy life I guess, EVERYTHING happens to her. She brakes her phone that's why she couldn't call, she was arrested that's why she couldn't make it, Had an accident, her best friend brother die had to travel, busy with work. All this stuff, I know he loves her but wow, is unbelievable to me how can he keep holding on. Even do he has been stood up more time that he has actually expend time with his girl.

I know his case is a little extreme, but when it comes to dating how many times can someone cancel on you for you to lose interest and just move on?

Once and I'm gone (explain)

2-4 times if I really like the girl/boy (explain)

4-6 times I step back & let them show his/her interest towards me. (explain)

As many times as he/she wants, I want them and I will get them. (explain)

One time, something may have happened or came up... two times is a stretch, but still believable (for me) third times the charm, however if I absolutely KNEW what it was that caused the cancilation... I might be okay with it (assuming it were reasonable) otherwise I would think she were dodging me, and a relationship can't go anywhere with only one person working at it.

My guess that the guy is still holding on, because either he believes he's deeply in love with her, understanding and sees their relationship going somewhere... or he's a pathetically (I use this in a good since, that he's a very nice guy, just too much so) nice guy to the point he'd walk through fire just spend a minute of time with her. The only way I'd be okay with someone canceling so many times on me is if I knew what happened was reasonable and unavoidable and that she were genuinely interested in me, letting cancelations without justifications are painful, I used to be a pathetically nice guy where I could tolerate A LOT, because I cared, now I care more about my own feelings (not that I no longer care, I'm stilll a nice guy, just not pathetically nice to the point where I could tolerate someone hurting me so much).

It can happen unlimited times, as long as she has a valid reason for doing it.

If she stands me up, but doesn't so much as give me a reason why she did it, or apologize for doing so, that's when I move on. I'm not fond of rude, inconsiderate girls. >.> Standing someone up doesn't make them rude and/or inconsiderate. But doing so, and then not even giving them an explanation is.

i'm experiencing this right now. I asked a guy friend out and he accepted. but its been 3 weeks and we still haven't gone on the date. He's always got a paper to write, a midterm to study for, a meeting to go to, job training in another city, and now he's out of the country for a week.

I'm getting really impatient but when I asked him he said he wasn't just making up excuses.

Not sure how I should ask him again once he gets back in the country...thinking about leaving him his favorite cookies at his doorstep and telling him to call me when he has any free time.

i'm just getting sick of putting myself out there.

I voted 2-4 because my ex boyfriend would sometimes put off things for reasonable reasons and it was alright; but by the 5th and 6th time I was like aw hell no I can't be waiting for him like this no matter if he has to do something. We stayed friends but he wasn't ready for a serious relationship. If the person is really wanting the relationship to work, they need to be commited.

4-6 times or maybe even more than that, if I'm interested in them but haven't invested any feelings in them, then it's not going to bother me that much if they cancel plans, but after canceling a few times I would definitely stop putting myself out there and let them approach me if they're interested.

Stuff happens. People make mistakes, emergencies happen, and something goes wrong. If a girl missed out on the first date, has a good reason, and seems genuinely apologetic about it, then I'd probably consider her for a second date. If it becomes a trend to cancel, then it's not worth my time to continue trying.

However, if she DID miss the first date, then I expect her to come up with a time for the follow-up.

I voted 2-4, but it really depends on the situation. If there's a truly legit reason (death of a close family member, serious illness, etc.), then it's understandable, no matter how many times it happens. If it's unintentional I'd be willing to give her a few (3-4) chances. If she's intentionally canceling out on me for no real reason, she has one chance, then it's over.

when someone stands you up that's like saying, "i have no respect for your time or company and I'm a douchebag." it's pretty inconsiderate so why would I want to be with someone who has no consideration for me?

I voted twice. The first time, as long as its legit, is understandable. But any more and I'll just let them contact me if they want to hang out. If they do, then cool. If not, then I didn't waste any more time on them anyway.

If the relationship is new than once, but if it has been going on for awhile and it is the first offense they person gets a couple before I tell them it's not working.

It depends. In a row, 2-4 times would be enough. Not in a row, if they broke plans more than a quarter of the time maybe.

Once can be understandable if they cancel. They might have a valid reason. Two and I'd get suspicious. Three times? No way man. Too coincidental.
